I copy/pasted this from general where it was quickly ‘lost’. Maybe someone here will see and can help.
My husband and I have recently purchased BFA (mid July) and are now discovering some rank 2 and 3 of recipes (blacksmithing that we have found so far) require marks of honor. After days of research in a number of places, I am unable to find some information:
-Is there a character level requirement to earn marks of honor in random battlegrounds?
-If his character and mine are in different level brackets, will it affect the chance at marks of honor? (if we are grouped and running together)
Although they are marked Blizzard Account Bound, the ones earned on another server on opposite faction, I guess they cannot be mailed. Please forgive my ignorance here as we do not pvp much and will only be doing so for these recipe ranks. Thanks in advance for any help here.
marks are account bound but prob not transferrable cross faction or server I imagaine.
Im not aware of any level requirement for them.
A more interesting question is why you would want to waste them buying ranks of recipes so close to the end of the xpac, except for transmog I suppose.
My husband wants them, so I cannot properly answer why. We have not purchased Shadowlands, nor do we intend to at this time. We just got Battle for Azeroth in July.
I personally haven’t bought a ‘new’ expansion since Cataclysm, that soured me forever. I do thank you for your response as I’ve not found any information. I suppose we will just keep trying on lower level characters as we’re both opposed to using 120s because of the corruption thing.
I’m not sure they drop in non-max level BGs. If you haven’t seen any yet doing the lower level ones, it’s probably because they can’t drop.
While it’s a slow method, you can get a mark every 2ish weeks per character from the Legion mission board. You just need to do one of the Warden Tower world quests once to unlock the “A Good Dust Up” mission which rewards a mark as it’s bonus reward. (So, you do need your followers leveled enough to 200% the mission.) As they are BoA, you can do them on any character you’ve got and then mail them to the character you want them on. (Even across server and faction.)
The hardest part once you’ve got leveled followers is remembering to check for the mission. You can use a macro to check your availalbe missions withough having to go to the table itself.

This may be the best option if we can get that far; neither of us spent much time in Legion content, nor even have many if any followers.
With the corruption and probable gear discrepancies at 120, I expect random battlegrounds to be a nightmare rather than even occasionally fun. I find it odd and annoying for something like marks of honor to be used to buy recipe upgrades.
Corruption will be going away with the pre-patch, which may make 120 BGs less annoying.
Ahh, yes, this is so
might be worth just waiting. Or I may try a couple on a 120 before he returns home if I have enough beer, see how terrible it is.
Where do these Warden Tower WQs show up? I do not recall enough about Legion to even know where to look.
Edit: I found one. Thanks so much for your help here.
Edit 2: In case anyone else is interested; I did get marks of honor on wins on a 120 character. I also got 1 mark in a box on a loss on a 113 character, so max level isn’t required, nor is a win. Now to try to find the cut off. (level wise)
Those tower world quests from legion, are in SL, but from what i understand only if you have warmode on
I think a its great addition
I honestly do not recall if I’d ever done the Legion WQ when I’d played before a long break when I was on Tich which at the time was pvp server so I may have. I just do not recall getting a table mission that gave marks of honor. It would be good, I think, to have those types of quests only show up in warmode as it keeps those who do not want to wpvp away from them.
Too often these days quests do not give a lot of information and requires third party ‘help’ to know what you’re getting into.
Do they award Marks of Honor again though?
They were there in BfA but they just rewarded other things.
I think they did marks too in legion. I remember having a ton of them entering bfa
