I’m a leatherworker with the Leather Armor specialization. I’m current at 62/100 and none of my recipes give skill ups. How do I get knowledge to raise my specialization enough to get the life-bound recipes? It’s coming so slowly, even with ordering a treatise every weeks. I’ve only gotten 16 points so far.
Sadly you don’t. You get a little each week from quests and some lucky dragon knowledge drops and that’s it. I am in the same boat. I was thinking long term and went heavily into a drums spec for M+. Now I am also stuck waiting to gain enough knowledge. Alchemy is one of the only specs not enslaved to the order boards to level a crafting profession.
I put just enough points into “Leather Armor Crafting” to get “Shaped Leather Armor” then just enough points in that to get “Wristwraps” which gives 3 skill-ups and has the least amount of mats to make. I’m going to try and fill orders for these to level.
Hopefully, they add more ways to level skill and knowledge. This is a pain.
That is the terrible part of leveling most professions. There aren’t any work orders that are public and most that are requested in trade want 4-5 stars which will not happen when leveling.
And if you want to put in an order on an alt just to level it up, you need 60 primal chaos, which is 30 m0s.
To expand on this, you can get 4 weekly points for proffs through various means. Leatherworking can be earned through the following means:

Molted Dragon Scales - Dirt Piles/Expedition Scout Packs
Preserved Animal Parts - Dirt Piles/Expedition Scout Packs
