Questions about Greater Embers of Fyr'alath

Geared this alt up starting a few weeks ago, and just had some questions about Greater Embers.

  • I’ve been downing Fyr’alath on all difficulties except Mythic for four weeks. I understand that “bad luck protection” for lower difficulties are included in higher difficulties…but does this also include Greater Embers?

  • I believe (but don’t recall) that I’ve got Greater Embers on each kill. However this week, I completed normal first and then LFR…and got no Greater Ember on LFR. Are they not guaranteed?

  • I found a script online to check lesser ember progress, but couldn’t find one for Greater Embers. I understand I can see my kills for non-LFR on raider io. Is there a way to see Greater Embers collected?

  • On the data mined drop rate chart on Wowhead it looks like I approach 100% drop rate on heroic after 14 Greater Embers. Does this count Embers from all difficulties? I believe after four weeks of all difficulties I should be around 12 minus the one that didn’t drop…unless it was “included” in a higher difficulty. Which means next week or maybe the week after I’ll be guaranteed?

I think you get the benefit of your hardest difficulty. So if you clear heroic first, no need to go back and do the others. They won’t drop embers that week.

If you’ve been clearing in progression (lfr, normal, then heroic in that order) you’d get 3 ember drops for the week but the net benefit is the same as just clearing heroic once.

I have no clue if it’s 3 separate rolls for the axe though. I only bother with LFR on my Alts.

Yes.

Your normal included your LFR. Think of it as having gotten two slices of cake. If you do LFR then Normal you’re given a tiny slice then another tiny slice.

It will essentially be your GE (heroic novel runs) + GE (normal runs completed on weeks you did not do heroic aswell) + GE (lfr on weeks you did not do the other two) bearing in mind normal and lfr percentages are tiny.

It doesn’t have a script iirc.

To clarify it’s 14 greater embers from heroic. So taking your current character as an example you’d need another 10 weeks of Heroic to guarantee it on the week after. I wouldn’t bother with normal/lfr as the rates are very low and the greater ember is already included in the Heroic kill you’re doing.

I’m also on the axe mission, another 7 weeks till it’s a guarantee for me.

re: sale based on heroic embers only: Oh god - that’s terrible at this point in the tier for an item we won’t know will be relevant the rest of the xpac. I started gearing this toon 4 weeks ago, which is why I only have 4 kills. Yikers, I won’t expect it any time soon then.

I’ll weigh if it’s even worth continuing, Fyrakk pugs take like 2-3 hours of my time a week.

It could still drop and I wouldn’t be surprised if they gave us an item that could increase its item level in S4, in a similar manner to what they did with the Sylvanus bow in S4 Shadowlands.
