I’m new to Vanilla, and have been blown away by BRD in particular. I’d heard raves about it, and now see what the fuss was about.
A couple of questions:
-
Is the Lyceum the first place in the dungeon where you absolutely have to have the Shadowforge key to enter? Seems like I can think of some way to get to pretty much everywhere else without a key, though I may be overlooking something.
-
Is that large locking device in the Eastern Garrison just for show or is turning the lock actually necessary to advance further in the dungeon?

The shadowforge key allows you to skip some of the content; its not required to have the shadowforge key to clear the dungeon, although it does aid you in certain respects if your group has one in hand.
Like most other early vanilla dungeons only one member is required to have a key if you dont have alternative methods to open locked doors such as a rogue who actually leveled lock picking, seforuim charge (engineering), skeleton key (blacksmith).
That big lock changes the position on a very big door; allowing you to use it as a bridge.

There are many invisible pathways, ledges to clip, and terrain to scale, which allows you to never need a key. However, having the key simply makes everything nicer to do. Doing the dungeon as intended (with the key allowing you to progress to later bosses without reclearing, if you’re farming items) is pretty chill, easy, and my preferred way over skipping.

Can you tell me specifically where this big door is?
Welcome to BRD life! Best dungeon in 20 years of WoW. I say that as someone who used to engage heavily in M+, absolutely loves dungeons, and has thoroughly enjoyed many of the dungeons Blizzard has designed over the years, up to and including Dragonflight!
There’s just something about that massive, sprawling, non-linear dungeon with many optional paths that thrills me. I also can’t believe that in 20 years of WoW, Blizzard has never done another one. Maybe there’s hope for the 20 year anniversary…

From Wowpedia: To travel from the East Garrison to the West Garrison, the players must first close the eastern door by activating a mechanism located in the East Garrison. Closing the door brings the passages inside the doors into alignment. There is no known way to reopen either door once the mechanism is activated.

BRD is solely responsible for 80% of the player base that perpetually returns to play classic. I have my reliable sources.

Because this agrees with my views, I will not question you further about this and will accept your statements as supporting evidence for my own claims.
Am I doing internet correctly?
You need to add in that people disagreeing are 2-3 different slurs.
