Allright,
I understand this is mostlikely getting a white tape answer. And I know parts of this have been answered in announcements… However I must raise this point. (most likely again) I have always played on the US realms and have purchased all my content on the US realms. However due to life being life I am now currently in the EU and would like to play my content in EU. I understand that blizzard does not transfer content, and I honesty to some degree understand this.
I do not undersand how this game is region locked. If I purchase game time in the EU it costs me the same as it does in the US. Currency exchange rate etc etc equal it out. However this makes blizzard expect me to if I want to start classic purchase two subscriptions if i want to play both classic and current content. A rather unfair policy… something i do not undestand. The EDI (electronic data interchange) technology has evolved long since 1970 and a simple bolean and datetime update to another server update is hardly difficult.
TLDR: is there any chance blizzard will update this? This really keeps me from playing classic due to not being in a financial great position.

If there was, it would be announced on the main WoW page. Unfortunately, until then, there wouldn’t be much a blue here could say.
Last I heard, there were no plans to change this, but you never know.

You only need to purchase one subscription if you want to play both Classic and current content. You get free access to Classic with your current content game time.
Glad you think so. As you don’t have personal knowledge of Blizzard server setups you don’t know how easy or hard it would be.
The game was developed so that each license acted like a separate game. They did not intend at the time to allow exchange between the regions. That is why the EU and NA licenses have some of the same realm names. It also means that if there are regional restrictions, they can be applied to only that region instead of the game as a whole. Things like the restrictions in China and South Korea.
The Devs were asked about it at one of the interviews around Blizzcon. They said if they could just “flip a switch” to allow it they would. It’s a lot more complicated than players think.

Just to expand upon this point since the OP brought up different regions:
-
In order to play on the NA region version of Classic, you will need a NA region subscription.
-
In order to play on the EU region version of Classic, you will need an EU region subscription.
-
The two regions’ subscriptions are not interchangeable and neither grant access to the other region’s version of Classic.

Yeah, though I’d say it’d be pretty remote at the moment.
Never give up hope, though - never surrender it

So much this. We got things they said previously would never happen, like more backpack space and Classic realms. What is impossible today could be possible tomorrow.

Wish. Hope. Pray. That’s all I know to say.
Trying to claim it has anything to do with server setups to link region subscriptions at the very least is silly. They’ve already done it across completely different games, nevermind different regions of the same game. This argument is pointless.
I don’t know about the technical side but the legal side of separate NA and EU systems has been explained by Blizz many times.
There are two different EULA and ToU for NA and EU.
There are two different ratings systems (ESRB in the US and PEGI in Europe) and they, while similar, are not exactly the same.
While playing on the NA system you must agree to their EULA and ToU.
While playing on the EU system you must agree to their EULA and ToU.
This and other legal differences do not allow the merging of the systems.
Except the other games were built to allow it and WoW was not.
