Yo, just a quick question. In Vanilla. You could be a level one Enchanter but be able to Disenchant anything, so a level 5 enchanter with the skill of level 1 could D/E even a level 50 item if it was BOE etc, did anyone in beta test if this was still the case? I’ve always wondered if this was just a over-sight done by devs in the early day.

Yes. It’s the case. I did it.
Also, disenchanting stuff gives you skill ups. So theoretically if you had 300 items to disenchant you could level your enchanting all the way up without enchanting anything… Maybe? People are saying this may only take you to 50 skill.

Getting skillups from DE’ing stopped at a certain point. I think it was at a skill of 50 where it went “gray”
I would often get it up a little higher but not much. I doubt you’d get it to 70 but I know I got it to 60 on an alt just DE’ing stuff.
In my experience (though I started in BC, so vanilla might be different) disenchanting stopped giving skill-ups after a certain level.
I believe it’s based on the level of the item you’re disenchanting. So if you were at 250 skill disenchanting an item with a level requirement of 5 I don’t believe you’d get skill.
But you might be right. I’ve never leveled from 1-300 from just disenchanting.
I think it was after a certain level, like 60 or something you’d stop getting points from D/E but i could be wrong
Yea I tryd it on the stress test, I thought it was 75 but I stopped getting skill at 50 from DE.
I think it was even part Of the Tbc pre patch and from then on replaced the oldersystem.

Skill level now determines what items you can disenchant.
Making campfires also levels your cooking abilities up.
