Question on Returning for RP

Hey all, I’m going to crosspost this since I also used to play here on MG, and would like to potentially comeback on either realm. The following was posted on the WrA forum:

Hey everyone, it’s been a while for me since I posted last and stepped foot into WoW. I’m one of the folks who just couldn’t get into SL for some of the popular reasons (broken lore, gameplay mechanics, etc) and honestly felt like RP was dead in the water, which broke my heart. I decided to take a break and tried dipping my toes in SWTOR one more and then finally after a lot of convincing FFXIV.

When it comes to FFXIV as modern as the game is, I just couldn’t connect with it. I didn’t find the game getting me excited about the story or lore early on enough to feel invested in it. The class/job system and profession system is also incredibly different and was very much not something I enjoyed. It’s very different than WoW, and while that’s okay it’s just not my cup of tea in the end.

I know what was announced today with Dragonflight and I’m excited for it. But I’m still missing WoW in the end and want to come back. Mainly for the RP. But it begs the question, where does the RP community stand right now on WrA/MG? Is it still suffering and dead? Is it pretty much guilds being exclusive and just hiding in their holes? Or have things started to make a comeback?

I’m game for either faction at this point as I have multiple characters and conceits always waiting to be explored. I’d just love to know what’s going on these days. And hopefully find a reason to return. Thanks for your time!

Moon Guard RP on both Horde and Alliance is strong and not just exclusive to guilds. There have been several server-wide, cross-faction RP campaigns in the past few months with many different options for players to take. There also seems to be more cultural guilds popping up right now if that’s your thing, and there’s a good mix of overall guild variety right now as well.

Overall MG is far from dead or suffering at the moment. Alliance has a larger community but Horde is very dedicated to their side as well, and have just as many events going on as Alliance.

WrA still has a larger horde, but the alliance there is pretty dead/hidden. MG has a larger alliance. For a while, horde was pretty iffy if you weren’t ‘in the know’, but it’s managed to rebound and grow. It’s actually pretty accessible and active now. A lot of my horde friends have all made the move here.

Horde is very much active and alive with engaging, server-wide campaigns and activities. Walk-up RP is always something that’s been tough to do in Org but within communities RP is simple to come across. There are Discords and guilds a plenty built solely for the purpose of RP. I haven’t been RPing on Alliance but there was a huge server-wide, several month event called the Civil War that many people, guilded and not, that took part in it. Your best bet when coming to MG is to figure out whatever it is that YOU want to do and that YOU want to RP and then try and engage with the communities from there.

Welcome back. All this week MG Horde is out at Conquest Everfrost, which is a server wide D20 rp campaign. In the end, find the place your happy and plant your seeds. Joining a community takes time, and you need to invest into that community to belong.

Here are a few screenshots from it.

Feel free to join the new events DIscord and see if anything strikes your fancy. I’d say there’s SOME kind of RP event nearly every day. From bars to long-form RP.
