Question on comparing items and stats

I have 11,117 versatility. that’s 14.25% / 7.13%.

Ok so I have 14% vers.

Now, my weapon i have currently has: 869 vers on it.

The upgrade i’ll be purchasing has 1,100 vers on it.

how can i calculate the % out so i’ll know how much vers ill have when i equip my new weapon?

I have to do this with certain gears purchased in pvp because i dont want to make the wrong purchase for my stats. I want to know how much the change will be before i make purchase.

Any help is appreciated, ty.

From what I remember, statistic weights are different for each class and specialization - meaning 100 Versatility for a Survival Hunter will not be the same percentage as 100 Versatility for a Guardian Druid.

hmm so once i figure out how much 100 vers gives me, i can kind of calculate from there it seems.

Ok so i removed all my gear, and put my lowest versatility piece on, which is like 444. so roughly 444 vers gives me 0.57% versatility. God this is confusing

Also know there are soft and hard caps on statistics’ values, meaning you’ll start to get less percentage once you reach certain thresholds. Though you usually don’t need to worry about that until later in the expansion when numbers have increased for over a year.

This is one of the reasons guides say you should run gear sims (simulations) to compare one piece of gear to another, given the rest of your gear, stats, talents, build, etc.

For example, looking at icyveins.com, they have a guide for this, and in section 8.1, specifically address gear comparisons for what you have vs. something you don’t yet have:

There is a lot there, but it illustrates that it things are often not just a matter of doing some stat weights and trying to do quick back of the envelope hand calculation to figure this stuff out some times.
