Question for you Gold Goblins about Dragonflight Professions

So I’m in a bind trying to decide which professions/characters to level based on making gold in DF. My questions are:

  1. Which character should I level first to rush through the story line and get all the Dragonriding Glyphs (which would help me with gathering)?

Some say to level an Enchanter early on because of being able to sell materials at a high price early on.
Some say stick with herb/mining so you can either sell on AH or supply your own alts professions.

  1. Can I keep make gold using professions even if I don’t level the character up to max? I.e. Can I leave them at 60 and feed them materials? How much do I miss out if I don’t get rep related recipes etc?

Move over druids, Tauren and Highmountain rogues are the best mining/herbalists by a landslide

Why is that?

Sap & Vanish are superior and with the gathering speed increase racials it’ll now be uncontested. The major advantage a druid has is no form shifting, but I’m assuming the speed differential in dragonriding negates that proficiency, I have no clue the density of nodes however.

Good point. I did consider that Druid FF gathering will be inferior to Draonriding. Completely spaced on Tauren/HM racials.

I honestly forgot tauren were becoming rogues in prepatch until I opened this, hyped to play a rogue again.

Any thoughts on my original questions?

I refuse to pay obscene prices for things, so I always go enchanting on my main for the expansion start. Herbalism is a nice alternate profession if you raid and want to be fully stocked on potions and such.

  1. I have no experience. But I would assume after doing some sort of intro experience the basic profession interface would be open.

Great question.
There are several ways of looking at it.
You could do zero professions. The gold you make by simply playing will pay for the “things that stack” which are region-wide, like flasks and health pots, they should stay pretty cheap after the first three weeks. Then play your game; raid or do m+ and gear up just fine.
If you are a long time gear crafter, you won’t want to drop ten years of blacksmithing recipes but if that is not a factor, picking up enchanting to DE and herbalism while you level from 60 to 70 makes sense; you can always drop it when you focus on your long game. Sell what you gather early.
You could zoom to level 70 with no profession distractions and then go do it, meaning you are stronger sooner and have more survivability and your skills in dragon flying are higher.
If you dream of an Army of Profession Alts, you will have to play them to a point. The rep/renown is necessary for recipes and inspiration and stuff; but you could make an alt alchemist/inscriptionist and play to max renown and then park and be fed herbs by your main (I think).
Crafting gear is The Big Deal. It is realm-wide and the designers have invested a lot into getting us to play, it is our only real “system”. We won’t race to the top and stop, it will take a long time to get to the top and then patches will give us more things to do – trying to “specialize in everything” would be a massive project and a mind-boggling time sink with little pay-off due to competition. So, find the fun in it.

This is a gold goblin question. To make a ton of gold in this expansion would take a ton of time; you’d have to specialize into what people want or miss the mark. Weapons might be a good idea via blacksmithing, but a lot of players will be doing the same. Camping the crafting orders or barking in /trade would take time. Frankly, I am worried about how to make gold in the system designed; the irony could be leveling an army of alts and simply doing world quest dailies in twenty minutes and watch it stack up.
People will tell you to pounce early; I know a guildie in BFA who fished upon arrival in Boralus until she made a million gold in the first weeks.

I think that in the big picture and best bet is to have fun. Explore your favorite profession, see what is offered and do it. Don’t stress, play the game as you like, enjoy the odd perks of each profession (puzzles in inscription) and let the gold come to you.

everything is a risk , u better have alts with other proffesions u gonna need it

u can go for LW thinking that evokers will need gear and in the end gain 0

u can go enchanting , and even spec for disenchant , and u can gain tons of gold or nearly nothing because every1 and his mom is enchanter

alchemist because consumables only to the market be flooded with herbs and potions flask prices plummet

nearly all good recipes are behind reputations : insciption has tons on honored i think

tailor has 2 but on revered¿?

so yeah even if its an alt crafter u will need to play them for crafting.

the real answer? dont know, i would go for what benefit you and not for gold

Wonderful, insightful post. Thank you for this. It seems a little bit scary, but a wee bit exciting as well!

I am really doubtful people can even seriously answer you on this. Way way too many factors come into play.

There are people making videos giving their opinions though. It is very hard to know how that region wide AH will come into play.

I personally don’t even know if it will be worth it doing any professions - the entire process might be more work than any results you get.
