Quick conceptual question coming in bullets:
Necrotic Plague
- How do you guys would feel if Necrotic Plague as a single talent node that would completely change Unholy as a whole Specialization? Consider the Necrotic Plague is a choice node between it and Superstrain.
A powerful disease that deals (X% of attack power) Shadowfrost damage per stack every 2 sec for 30 sec. Each time it deals damage, it gains 1 stack, and infects another nearby enemy within 8 yards if possible.
This ability replaces Virulent Plague and is applied by any ability that apply diseases. This effect cannot be refreshed; it gains 1 stack instead up to 15 stacks.
Every tick has a chance to grant you 2 Runic Power proportional to the amount of stacks.
– Every Disease application through Outbreak, Unholy Blight and Buttons would apply Necrotic Plague.
– To add support for Necrotic Plague, the OG Festering Strike would return. There is a lot of sentiment going on about Unholy Players not really being a big fan of Festering Wound mechanics. Sooo…
→ Festering Strike extends Necrotic Plague’s duration by 6 seconds instead of applying Festering Wound.
→ Scourge Strike and Apocalypse deal increased damage proportionate to the amount of Necrotic Plague stacks rather than bursting wounds. Apocalypse raises Army of the Dead ghouls every 3 stacks of NP.
→ Vile Contagion would amplify Necrotic Plague stacks in some way.
→ Ebon Fever would affect NP.
→ Festermight just flat out increases your Strength by 1% from the greatest stack of Necrotic Plague. I am aware it’s a 5% Net Loss of Strength.
→ And more! Uh… Maybe too much for one node maybe.
– All above are assuming Necrotic Plague is chosen as a talent. I am indeed brainstorming Unholy rework as a whole that could please everybody. But be warned though, you still are bound to have a Ghoul. But these are the concepts of Unholy in place for NP.
– As for a place, it would take place in Death Rot and Death Rot will be located elsewhere.
Necrotic Progeny
- If you like to take command over the dead, firstly… I would propose to revert the changes done to Unholy Mastery adding pet damage and its weight. Meaning more Shadow Damage for Unholy overall from Dreadblade lost in Shadowlands. But if you want to keep the pet damage, there will be a node that adds Shadow Damage from your minions and another node that increases the Pet Damage by 75% of the value of the Shadow Damage Increase from Dreadblade as a requirement for the capstone choice node for Unholy: Necrotic Progeny.
Necrotic Progeny: Summon Gargoyle
Passive: Your summoned Army of the Dead Ghouls have a chance to apply one of the debuffs from Rune of the Apocalypse.
Active:
30 yd range - Instant - 3 min cooldown
Summon 3 Gargoyles from the Ebon Hold that cast Gargoyle Strike at your target for 30 sec. Your Gargoyles echo Death Coil or Epidemic at your target whenever you consume Sudden Doom with 50% effectiveness. The Gargoyles gain 1% increased damage for every 1 Runic Power you spend.
Generates 50 Runic Power.
Necrotic Progeny: Summon Lich
Passive: Your summoned Magus of the Dead now cast Deathchill Bolts.
Active:
30 yd range - Instant - 3 min cooldown
Summon a Lich from Icecrown that casts Deathchill Bolts at your target for 30 sec. Every Deathchill Bolt it casts raises a Magus of the Dead up to 7 times. The Lich and the Magus of the Dead it summoned gain 1% increased damage for every 1 Runic Power you spend.
Generates 50 Runic Power.
- Pretty flashy eh? Gary brought some friends and they are pretty beefed up. Gary now has a competition with the Lich that raises up to 7 Magus of the Dead. Each of the selected nodes have a passive effect that implicitly increases the damage of your minions.
- If you raise Buttons instead, Buttons will apply Rune of Apocalypse debuff for every strike if you choose to summon the Gargoyles.
- If you want Female Gary, you would have 3 Val’Kyrs.
- Deathchill Bolt simply merges Frost Bolt and Shadow Bolt together. Applying slow and increased damage respectively. The Lich’s Deathchill Bolt is twice as potent as the Magus it summons.
- If Menacing Magus stays, it will also affect the Lich.
- This node takes place in Commander of the Dead. Whether or not what happens to Commander of the Dead remains to be seen.
- I am also brainstorming the buff for Rune of the Apocalypse. So stay tuned!
Remember, these are just ideas for fun! Will it happen? No. But something fun to think about. What do you guys think?
