I understand this isn’t what YOU described as solo queue, but I’m just pointing out that there are discrepancies in what people want in solo queue before solo queue is even an option, and that it can have an effect on the ladder if an idea is misunderstood when implimented.
So look at when people started asking for solo que. It wasn’t until their pvp streamers wanted it because ranked died off. This is more just people not thinking and being mouth pieces for streamers and top players who already have maxed gear and have 0 intention or interest in explaining that solo que would never get you gear. Even less so with how SL pvp gearing works.
If you really listen to the people asking and supporting solo que they all hide those facts behind the same lines

It won’t. People will try it a handful of times before quitting from just getting farmed.
“I just want to play when my partner isn’t on.”
This line here is when they’re being mostly truthful. They’re just leaving out that solo que is just for them to make more 1 shot hahaha content.
Current SL ranked is so low in population I as a first time 1600cr player. (Only xpack I cared to even care about cr and even then only did it because I wanted the mount.) The moment I got close to 1800 (my season high is like 1715 in 3’s) I’d get matched with streamers, R1s all sorts of gladiators. Things I have no right facing.
So turn that to 11 and you’ll have solo que.
Yes 100% accurate. I can’t even get into +15 pugs (looking at my character you’d think otherwise) unless I tank or heal… Bc meta deems ret to be trash in PvE, meta slave is in all games but in WoW it seems to be feast or famine.
Tbh I don’t think there really is a fix outside of some major changes that expansion level.

This doenst make sense to me though, because like i said LFG only really affects the low rated crowd. I get that yes lots of ppl are “meta slaves” but isnt it clear that there is a large group of people lacking from the low rating bracket currently? and simultaneously there is this group of people just asking for solo q so they can play ?
You’ll be surprised how many people just accept players who are 50cr lower than them. I had a 2k cr dk who just said f it after not getting a healer for an hour and picked up a 1700 cr hpal who was ilvl 226.
Solo queue would pretty much be like HoTS and LoL in the sense people should be of really close CR. The randomness could mean bad queues but I highly doubt you’d get an unlucky streak of bad players over ten matches. It COULD happen but that is the same issue in premades where players either troll or play really poorly.
If there’s a lot of low rated players struggling to find partners sounds like they have a really large pool to choose from but choose not to

While you may think it’s an exaggeration I think it’s possible it can happen. In a previous expansion? Very unlikely. But with so many carries going on it is definitely probable in Shadowlands.
I agree something needs to be done to help people be incentivized to play more than 3 games. I think one way is to lower the # of games for cap (in the past it was like 10 wins in 2s ) or give lower conq on losses.
I doubt anyone at blizz would listen to casuals like me but maybe some streamer will get through lmao.

I spend a lot of time playing with this super casual guild and I watch their 3s games they’re 1400-1600 and I check pvp everyone they fight and there’s like 1 carry game a night max. Idk I’m actively watching what’s happening in that bracket and it doesn’t look like how forums portray it
It does happen, people do que into pika at 1700. But it’s nowhere near every game

Solo queue can easily work, and I think it would be good.
But people need to realize, it won’t be an optimal experience in a lot of cases. Take rainbow 6 siege for example (you can solo-q ranked). It’s pretty hard to rank by yourself - you’re not on the same page as your team usually - and you have to carry/frag HARD to compensate sometimes. I expect WoW to be the same.
It would be good if you just want to queue ranked with lesser expectations, and not have to wade through the group finder. But if people have serious expectations of achieving a certain CR, they’re best to go through premade group finder.
I don’t see any reason why they can’t implement it though.

I don’t doubt that people match w/o lower CR players just to play, but solo queue may not be much different anyways. We don’t really know. All we know about solo queue is that people want a system they can queue into and get matched to similar rating…
(Please don’t take this as a personal attack on you, as I’m just spitting out concerns). What’s a similar rating that we can all agree on. 5 to 10 point variant or 50 points?
Back to your DK friend. He was specifically looking for a healer right? So he queues into solo queue and gets put with a warrior, rogue, WW, BrM, or some other non hybrid or healer. What does he do now? So now he wants a filtering system right?
I feel like this is the whole gear situation all over again. We want a pvp stat, we get. We need templets, we get it. We need to earn better gear, we get it. Gear is too powerful… the life cycle goes on.
The best option to me is to expand the LFG tool. Start adding to the Ilvl & Notes. So LFG should show CR, Ilvl, Season High CR, and link to armory.
Goes back to “not on the same page”. People in R6 ranked play operators that suck balls for their team, and you have to make up for that sometimes too. If you’re a good player but have a crappy comp, you can compensate to a certain level. Which is why I said solo-q isn’t optimal if you want to min/max. If you don’t care, then it’s fine.
Stop comparing WoW to R6 it’s not applicable.
As a new player, I’m kinda floored there isn’t solo queue. Most the people against it are probably just worried about change or don’t have a ton of PvP experience outside of WoW.
There are a ton of ways to do a queue system for competitive PvP and no way is perfect. I think an LFG system is the worst option myself out of all the systems I’ve ever played. That’s probably a lot of PvP games don’t use LFG as their main queue type, it’s usually an after thought most people don’t end up using for ranked.
A few big argument I see against it;

This simply isn’t true. (Personal anecdote) In other PvP games I’ve played with solo queue systems I’ve met a ton of people. Usually to the point I have more people on my friends list than I have time to play with. You have a good game with someone, you add them after and play.

Not really. People who are not interested in LFG style system are already not playing it anyways. Myself as an example, but judging from the stuff I see on the forums I’m not alone.

Sorry to break it to you but WoW pvp isn’t competitive in the same sense that most PvP games are. There are a ton of other things preventing it from being competitive that come before the queue system. Queueing is more an accessibility thing anyways.
My final thoughts, and remember this is coming from a new player, is that a lot of these people that are against solo queue just like to gate keep even if unintentionally. They feel like LFG is something special to WoW and it somehow separates the wheat from the chaff. Well it’s not, and it doesn’t.

I mean you seem like a reasonable person, so I pretty much think you want straight solo queue to play. However your not the majority of people that want solo queue. There are some pretty unreasonable people out there and typically they are the more vocal ones.
I’ll say it again, they need to fix LFG, and on top of that, if people want solo queue why not fix Arena Skirms to be a solo queue but everyone is put at equal gear. That way you don’t have to match on CR. Literally queue and play.
