Question for lorewalkers

How much do you think arcane energy influences plant growth?

I’m trying to sketch up designs for trees (my ambition is to remodel every asset zone by zone and add my own in as well) and while the ones in elwynn are nice and big I’m not sure what they are.

Our forests grew in far more stable environments than anything you’d find on Azeroth. I’m guessing their growth was accelerated by the planet’s latent arcane energies (more in some places than others) and I ammm divided. I have a bunch of options for leaves (sorta as blueprints for how the trees themselves grow ) that lean into mutagenic asymmetry due to the wild accelerated growth, extremely symmetrical and defined designs due to the ordered nature of a titan’s arcane magic, and one that hints at a slightly crystalline structure to reference plants found in areas near the blue dragon flight’s reworked ley lines in Northrend.

Thoughts? What…sounds better as a whole?

Going by the Tempest Keep dungeons and the Azure Vault dungeon magic can dramatically enhance plant growth, at the cost of having the possibility of plants flinging arcane projectiles at your face.

Unlike Nature magic, using Arcane magic seems to mutate the plant life and I don’t think it ever has turned out all that hot. Except when the plants in particular are attuned to Fire magic. Then it’s very hot very quickly.

This is true! That’s an overdose of arcane power - Im thinking more of like a steady drip you’re able to find around Azeroth. The Tower of Azora, for example, sits upon a minor ley line!

Given what some elves do with their gardens with magic, probably a lot.

I think it’s a mix that ranges from Arcane influence to dragon spells gone wrong (beneath Dalaran). Trees shattered at the base, floating and crystalized.

In my mind, I envision an Arcane ‘plant’ like an M&M in the sun, shiny shell with gooey arcane sap inside. New growth represented by sharp mold like spore tendrils. Outer growth rings similar to scales. :slightly_smiling_face:

Arcane energy can do some wild stuff with plants; If you go to the area around dalaran in northrend, the nighthold, Azure vaults you can see the effects it has on plant life.

I like to think of Eversong Woods and how careful use of Arcane magic has shaped the bushes and trees and infused them without harming them.

Contrast that with the Nexus and the Azure Vaults where Malygos’ immense concentration on Arcane magic has crystallized the plants and elementals in the area.
