I am basically wondering if it is viable to use a level 60 character to boost another lower level character through dungeons.
My friend is interested in raiding but does not really have the time to put into thie grind.
Thanks in advance!

If he doesn’t have time to level he probably doesn’t have time to raid.
I would say he has more time to raid than to level.
when he can carve out time to play he would rather spend it with his friends instead of leveling alone. I dont think that is unreasonable.
If he doesn’t have an hour or two each day to level, then he certainly doesn’t have time to raid, unless he joins a top ranked speed-running guild - which he won’t, unless he has hours/day to prepare and farm gold for consumables.
It sounds more like he’s just in a rush to hit the end game.
If it’s just you and him in a group the exp is nerfed due to the level difference, you should find 3 other people around his level to join you to increase the exp per mob. This is why you see mages doing free RFC and SFK runs, and even free SM and Mara runs sometimes with their alt sitting there. Or they still charge lol.
Now open world, mob kills are the same, so you could help him quest easier but the exp rates will be lower since the mob kills will be nothing almost, and you’ll find yourself running out of quests in the zone super early. Like I did this with my rogue earlier and finished all the Tirisfal glades quests at level 9.
Yes.
There are tons of guides on how to do this. It is most efficient when one high level character is boosting four low level characters.
Thank you this makes a lot of sense!
just wish I leveled a mage haha.
If you solo run him thru RFC for instance he’ll get like 22 exp per mob, if you fill the group with other nubs he’ll get like 75-100 exp or whatever. It’s litterally 4 to 5 times better.
the question wasnt should I level my friend, it was could I level my friend. Most content in Classic can and is being 30 manned right now so bringing an undergeared noobish person that wants to enjoy his free time playing with his friends even if only for an hour out of the raid hurts nobody.
If he’s new to the game he doesn’t even have any friends yet.
You took my post way too personal m8.
I said my friend. Not that he is new to the game. We raided together many years ago and now he wants to play classic and reconnect with other people we have known for over a decade.
I didn’t take your post personal, I just have never understood the reason behind nonconstructive posting. Saying he doesn’t have time to level so he doesn’t have time to raid has no relevance to the question posed in the thread.
If he doesn’t have time to level then he doesn’t have time to raid, that’s a fact.
If he wants to just shortcut to max level and do raids there’s retail for that.
Sorry m8 nothing personal kiddo
How is that a fact? if someone has say 2 hours to play they could grind by themselves for 2 hours, or go to a molten core raid with his other guildies for 2 hours. If he doesn’t kill Rag that is too bad, but he will get a few boss kills, he will get the feeling of playing with a community and enjoy himself.
Who are you to tell people how they can or cannot play the game? If you want purists only then I salute you sir and best of luck in your game. But not everyone subscribes to your way of thinking.
So you’re saying he does have time to level, he’s just in a rush. Thanks!
Calm down, sensitive one. I didn’t tell anyone how to play. I just stated facts. LOL
I think you’ve set up a false equivalence there.
Using dungeon boosting to get your friend from 1 to 60 isn’t immediate. They have to log in for those 2 hours at a time to be dragged through dungeons for however many times that takes.
The question is really the XP/hour efficiency of:
Dungeon boosting would remove the need to care about gear until the last few levels, but not provide much faction reputation (so little or no discounts). Typical dungeon boosting costs gold, but if you’re willing to do it free for a friend, you and they would figure out what your time is otherwise worth and how coin and loot in the dungeons was divvied up.
Also, what happens when they get to 60? Are they going to spend any time outside of raiding to get consumables or cover repairs if the raid itself doesn’t earn them enough? Are they automatically in your raid group, or do they need time to seek a recruiting guild or a PUG raid willing to take them?
