Do we have a talent or a button to apply power shield to every one in your party in one shot ? Healing with penance , u target the boss and without atonement how does it heal a partner ? I am a noob cant hide it .Thanks guys , just trying to learn
Power Word: Radiance is the spell you’re looking for. It applies Atonement to a handful of party members in one spell, at a reduced duration.
I think your first question is regarding what you’re looking for when the whole group is taking damage. In short you want to have your atonement buff up on
- all 5 if you’re in 5 man
- as many as you can in a raid group
then when the damage starts coming out, youre hitting your dps rotation (typically Schism > Mind Blast > Penance > Smite), this functions as DPriest’s method of AoE healing. If damage is coming out and your atonement buffs aren’t already up it’s going to feel really gross. It’s a very proactive style of healing, rather than reacting to the damage your group takes you’re preempting when theres going to be damage, applying atonements to the necessary targets or as many as you can, dps rotation to heal the group.
in regards to penance you can target an ally with it and heal them with it, I only ever penance to heal if I NEED to move and a group member NEEDS to be healed at the same time. Stick to using it on enemies to heal through atonement.
thank you very much , so much to learn .Atonemment is a problem for me right now seems it doesnt work as intended .Thank for ur instruction it gets me out of the wood a lot more
Make sure you’re using mouse over macros as well. They are vital - in my opinion to a smoother run. I use vuhdo. I have my pws, shadow mend, pain suppression, and dispel all set to macros. Having those spells macroed makes my
Job a lot easier because I don’t unselect my target and can can’t the spells I need to.
For what it’s worth - the single thing that helped me with Disc was finding a good way to track atonements. After missing icons in ELVUI for years and giving up on the spec, I switched to Grid2 and a profile created by a priest called Mend. Tints the cell of anyone with my atonements on them and makes it visually very easy to track.
If you can get used to making sure your atonements are out and refreshed before bursts of damage, you’ve won most of the battle.
Just to chime in, penance became a lot more valuable to cast on an ally in pre-patch. If you need a quick single target heal and have power of the dark side, it’s absolutely massive especially with castigation (750% sp).
In most scenarios, you’ll still run Schism and just DPS with it because DPS is valuable. And in raid, obviously you’d never take castigation, but I think a ton of priests are writing off its utility post schism nerfs in dungeon content. With better groups that aren’t standing in things or letting explosives go off, having a huge heal like that for the tank means you can mind sear more, which is generally better DPS in larger pre-patch M+ packs than spending the time to cast schism. Also helps with certain dungeons in tyrannical week where a DPS is targeted (like the liquid gold or drain fluids in KR).
It’s obviously still not my go-to talent but it’s honestly pretty viable in certain dungeons. And I think for healers that are leveling right now with broken atonement, it’s absolutely the better talent.
Download Buff Highlight in Tukui client if you are still using Elvui. It changes the raidframe to a different color for atonement. This was sorely missing from Elvui for a while.
Is that working again? I did use it for a while but found it never worked as well as my grid set up. And then post pre-patch the buff highlight seemed to die a death…
Thanks for understanding me so well , but using macro and addons is a mystery for me .I take note of the suggested tools vuhdo, macros ,no doubt they must be a great help for a disc .Just the thought of macro i s.it in my pants
Macros aren’t too hard. If you’re looking to start out with them and don’t want too much extra addons/etc. Do this:
- Go in game and hit escape.
- Go to macros.
- Click new and put a name in the top box.
- Choose an icon. To make it easier to remember, you can just use the same icon as the skill you’re about to macro, so for this one, pick the Power Word: Shield icon and click Okay.
- Copy and paste this in the macros commands box:
#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover,nodead,help][] Power Word: Shield - Click save.
- Drag the icon into your hotbar like you would drag any ability from your spellbook.
Now what that macro does, is if you have your mouse over any friendly target (either on their model, or on their healthbar in your party) and you hit the key, it will apply power word shield to them. If you DON’T have your mouse over anyone, then it will treat it like normal and apply it to your target (or yourself if you’re targeting an enemy).
You can do this for all your healing spells by just putting their name in instead of Power Word: Shield. Literally just copy paste the macro and delete Power Word: Shield and put in Shadowmend and you have a shadowmend macro that does the same.
Once you’ve done that, you can target enemies and cast your damage spells, while keeping your mouse near your party’s health bars to cast your spells on them without having to actually swap targets all the time.
This is a great community , thanks for help guys i owe so much.Caps ure great guy thank you so much
Before any fight always pre atone the tank and dot up as many with swp or ptw don’t spent too much time doing this want to dot a few and start your damage rotation. Do a radiance for group damage and drop pwb when needed
Thanks Rhaigne you too making it clear to me , thanks for your help
It’s working just fine. I’m using it right now in prepatch.
If it doesn’t, then 99% chance you have the wrong atonement spell id entered. It’s not the same as the spell book. You have to hover over your buff once it’s active to get the true spell id.
I do this with holy as well and added the spell id for echo of light. Very helpful in raids so you can maximize EoL coverage. This is also a different spell id then the one in the spell book.
Thank you for this, I get frustrated clicking
