Question about the Remix

Hey, I dunno if I wanna bother with the Remix, I don’t need to level any characters. My main interest in collecting is Mogs, pets and mounts are not of significant interest to me. But heres my question. If I sit this one out, will I miss out forever on unique mogs? Or is it stuff that you can get in retail, but more annoying or tedious to achieve?

And I am not up to date on whats on offer. Is it simple recolors like some have told me? is it brand new stuff? Is it old stuff that WAS gone forever, now brought back for a limited time? If someone could tell me whats at stake for a fashion victim like me, I’d appreciate it. Aka, making an alt and going through it, is it really worth it?

For me, this was worth my time in the Remix: the reward for getting a character to level 20:

I mean its neat… I just… Making an alt, leveling it, and needing to raid? I’d need to know if its worth it, if I miss out on stuff ‘forever’. If its stuff thats insane but ‘possible’ in retail, I can live with that.

Well, this mount is a Remix special. So unless at some time in the future they decide to rerelease it, you can only get it doing the Remix. And probably also for many of the mogs. I dunno, havent got that far.

And, you have, what 93 days or something? Its not like it has to be done this very instant. there is plenty of time to devote a little of tht time to levelling a character at a pretty fast pace.

I don’t know if you actually need to raid but as for leveling, it in incredibly fast. Basically loot everything and you get buffs to your cloak that are permanent and applies to all your other characters. I’m in the 60’s and have only quested and already have a 103% XP buff and I’m still in Kun Lai Summit with maybe…1/3rdish or so of the zone to go.

Edit - Just make an alt and you can see the vendors when you zone in and what they have to offer. My guess is there is a good bit for a non progression and/or collection-focused player to spend at least a few weeks on.

Edit 2 - I also was getting something like 650% boosted rep with the factions. For kicks and giggles, I did the initial quest and handful of dailies available to me for the Cloud Serpent folks while I was in the area questing and am revered.

Yeah 90 days is a lot. It’s not like the PTR where you felt like you were in dire straights because you had like 4 days or whatever it was.

I mean thats good, my concern is basically, is there significant Mogs that are going to be gone forever if I don’t do this? I hope someone has a concrete answer on that. I know its still early in its lifespan but I hope some know. Fact of the matter I am just not interested in doing it. I don’t think its bad, or anything. Its just not my cup of tea right now. I just wanna know how much I would lose out on if I didn’t bother.

UPDATE: a friend of mine sent me this.

"You are missing out on…

Being able to grind/farm for old (still-attainable) mounts you had to fight a weekly lockout for.

New mounts that were never before acquirable. (Same models, like cranes, cloud-disks, etc.) There are a few new recolors of each.

Easily acquiring full ‘sets’ of pandaria transmogs, still farmable on retail - such as the dungeon or raid sets. Great if you hate farming with every armor/class type.

A few new weapon mogs/models/recolors, per-class."

Is this accurate?

Yes, it’s accurate. Do you really think someone sending that much detail would be lying? What do they have to gain? Lol.

I mean they are a good friend, its just this is still so new, and I dunno, I thought maybe mistakes or misreading or misremembering could be a thing. :o Just wanna hedge my bets after all. But it seems like outside of maybe some weapons I can sit it out. But I do hope people enjoy it, it seems fun for people. : D I will need to look into the specifics.

It’s not an Axe Throwing contest, you won’t be laughed at, just try it out.

A nice update from my friend: it is just a few pieces and weapons per class, head, shoulders, belt, and weapons, and the good news is standard stuff gets you the currency to get the items at a vendor, aka no need to do super end game stuff or raids, and you do NOT need to go through it on different toons, you can main a warrior and earn currency to get stuff for a Priest, for example, I am told. This is very encouraging news and sounds like people will be saving alot of time.

Thank you, I just didn’t know where to go and the finer points of it. :o

! Note that if an item says WoW Remix in the tooltip, it is something which can only be obtained through the Timerunning event–not other sources.

Thats pretty obvious, and thats my bad. : ) thanks for not insulting me for it.

Thats ok, Im not altogether sure what items are specifically Remix and what are merely made available via the Remix. Im sort of researching specific items as I go, but there are so many of them, it can take time. Best bet is to look and see what sort of things you are interested in and see what they seem to be. :sunglasses:

I would say it is worth it. I am having a blast, even though I collected a huge portion of MoP stuff while it was current.

At least give it a try, at least to max, to experience how the game changes with all the boosted stats and fresh abilites to change your class up a bit.

I’m guessing the fastest way to get the mounts and transmog would be to make 5-10 healers/tanks and do one scenario and one dungeon on each one every day. If I have it figured out correctly you will get a mount every 5 days or a transmog set every 10.

  • 200 from the quest.
  • 200 from the end of dungeon.

400 total per day doing that and the new mounts are 2200 each for 5.5 days.

It will say New in MoP Remix if its a remix specific item.

My guy/gal you are putting stress on yourself for no reason.

Again, purely questing, I’ve made over 22k of the new currency. Plenty enough to buy several things. The hardest thing about the new mode is getting a grip on the new gems and coming up with combinations…but even that is incredibly minor because you can pluck gems out of your gear totally freely. Even if you accidently scrap a piece of gear with a gem in it, the game still gives it back to you.

And these gems make you insanely OP. Leveling can be a snoozefest in itself, but with the gems it’s like having cheat codes enabled. I’ve got a gem that rains down meteors taking things down more than half its life AND stuns them for 3 seconds and now I also get 50% additional crit chance on stunned targets which seems to apply to the 4 or so other random damage proc gems I’ve got on. Like some pulls I get maybe 2-3 attacks off before I’m looting and flying away.

And speaking of flying. Dragonriding available from the start and there isn’t even things like professions to bog the game down. Everything even from flying around throws this currency at you.

I’m not gonna lose sleep if you don’t try it…but I think in literally the time you’ve spent responding to this thread alone, you could’ve made a toon and just been giving it a try. Don’t touch instanced content if you are worried about performance, but while content is “new” is the best time to be inexperienced with it.

Yeah I’m mainly interested in the mogs too. I’m guessing there are going to be some mogs you can only get in the remix. But color variations will probably be released in other content.
Like the Plunderstorm pirate mog there were several color variations data mined, we just haven’t seen any of them yet.
