I’ve seen reference to organizations that are not guilds in player’s TRP profiles. SLP and I believe SCA are the acronyms used. I’m a relative new transfer to MG so I’m curious about these things. Can someone give an old Gnome a hand in understanding these?
SLP = Stormwind Law Project. IDK what SCA is BUT -
They are essentially communities on Discord where players agree that there is a hierarchical system in place with laws and positions. People can be elected to positions (I.e. Lord Chamberlain or Bishop) wherein your character has, in the headcanon of the community, that established position.
They’ll also have server-wide events. For example, there recently was a rebellion storyarc where with Anduin being gone there was a family trying to get the throne (in the headcanon they have created). You could opt in to the war effort on the rebel side or loyalist side, win land ICly, gain prestige and rank, etc.
Basically just a way for people to headcanon the government of the Alliance into ‘reality’ for them. It has its merits and issues.
The Grand Alliance is another one, but is more military focused.
SLP = Stormwind Law Project
SCA = Stormwind Crown Administration
JOC = Joint Operations Command (Another government project that has more military/intel aspects)
All of these projects are opt in and you can ignore them if you don’t want to play within their fanon universe. People who do opt in usually do so because of the RP opportunities and the structure these projects provide. Whether that is worth it is up to you.
Grand Alliance isn’t really a government thing so much as it is just a place for Alliance guilds, alliance affiliates, etc. to gather and network with each other. Pride of Gnomeregan actually attends the meetings fairly frequently, if you are interested you should talk to your GM.
Thanks for posting this info. I’ve always been curious what all these were about, myself.
