Do I understand correctly that with a Remix character in Retail, you can’t switch timelines and therefore can’t get the Dalaran Hearthstone toy through the Legion timeline? It’s skippable, so it would only take about 2 minutes, but it seems there’s no way for my Remix character to access that timeline via Chromie.
I know you can also use the portal to Azsuna, but why not give us the Hearthstone right away? Additionally, as a mage, you have only 1 portal, which I find a bit annoying, too.
Overall, it seems to make more sense to level alts via the Pre-Event rather than through Remix. I wish I had known that earlier. 
Not just Remix, the Idea behind you still need to do some quests to even open Nazjatar/BFA zones is beyond ridiculous. I had to do the storyline again on an alt just to get the portal. couldn’t find it in the room.

Yeah… the longer I look at it, especially with other alts from Remix aswell… honestly, I’m considering just deleting them.

??? Not sure what you mean by can’t switch timelines. Maybe if you maxed their level you can’t I guess but that’s the same for all maxed level toons. I could switch timelines fine on my level 28ish evoker to Legion by talking to Chromie and then going through the chat options instead of using the visual menu. The visual menu is bugged or something I noticed, you’re right, that didn’t seem to work. They should fix that. But you can still talk to her and pick “I want to be the greatest (classname)!” That will send you to Legion timeline timewalking and let you go to legion dalaran and get the hearthstone toy. Also you can train mage portals at the portal trainer in Orgrimmar or Stormwind which is in the class trainer area either in the farthest away valley from the front gate in the keep-like building in Orgrimmar or in the grassy area to the southeast in stormwind past the pvp area.
Unless you’re saying buying mage portal training is bugged for remix toons too. That would suck. But yeah, hope they fix the graphical menu select for legion timewalking for Remix toons.
They are all level 70, and while I can easily switch the timeline with my old retail characters at level 70, that’s not the case with my Remix characters, and well, the remix chars are the ones who need the Dalaran Hearthstone. I can talk to Chromie, but the option to actually choose a timeline doesn’t seem to exist for Remix characters.

Go to the quest billboard and it’ll be there to select the option to start Legion or other areas you want to open.

If you have another toon that’s been to Dalaran and got the Hearthstone, just use that toy?
I admit, I beat my head against that wall for a while before that lightbulb moment. So used to having the stone in my bag, I forgot it was a toy.

I could select a timeline by chatting with her and choosing the conversation option “I want to be the greatest evoker!” but I guess it doesn’t work for level 70 remix characters maybe I don’t have any level 70 remix characters so I don’t know. Sorry.
Toy doesn’t work. It says can’t do that right now. You have to unlock it. I have several toons that have never been able to use the toy. I need to go work on that.
Take the portal (Radiant Echoes) in SW or Org. As soon as you arrive, use the toy (to see it works, stop the cast, obviously) I’m doing that on all my Remix Toons today, it’s such an easy unlock right now. No quests, nothing, just port in and the toy works.

On my Remix character, I just took the portal to Aszuna and then a flight path to Dalaran. Once in Dalaran, the character could use the hearthstone toy. Didn’t have to use Chromie Time or a warboard.
I had a low level toon that could not even see a portal to Azuna in Stormwind. It was really odd.
The toy did however work.
Oddly, it stopped working and gave me the ‘you can’t do that now’ when I was doing one of the memories quests and wanted a quick trip back to Dalaran.
So clearly there are bugs there. I’m staying put there until that toon gets to 70.
33 to 51 in a few hours which really amazes me. Unfortunately, running around on a toon in ilevel 35 gear is a bit difficult…
you don’t need Chromie time to do quests which you haven’t completed.
or you could just do the questline to get to the pre-launch event, it literally takes you to legion dalaran. I keep getting bugged by the legion NPCs ushering me to the questgivers to get my legion artifact.
Use the portal to Dalaran in SW next to the AH, tucked slightly off the the right and back a bit. Once IN Dalaran your toy should work.
Don’t even need to do any quests at all if you don’t want.
Now that, that is annoying, have you heard how desperate they get? It’s funny too, listening to them telling you how important it is.

The Dalaran Hearth is a toy and is account wide.
You don’t need to unlock it on the new characters at all.
If you are hitting an issue like some of the other people here where the toy isn’t usable, that’s a bug.
I’ve made plenty of characters at level 10 that can use the dalaran hearth, not only right away but regardless of the timeline I selected.
My remix characters also are able to use it without ever setting foot in dal or starting the intro.
not exactly a lengthy quest, may as well do it, its like talk to four NPCs, click three things and take portal to dalaran.
I could but have done it several times and didn’t want to go to Silithus again. My way seemed quicker.
