Question about professions

I am enjoying leveling tailoring, I currently have herbalism. So far I can’t make too much from either, my question is if I should drop herbalism for either leatherworking or enchanting. My goal is money so probably not enchanting. I see some tailoring items require leather so I am thinking about skinning.

money right now?

skinning and something

i have a skinner and an alt is lw

instead of vendoring stacks of leather i can craft a few items that increase my profit (vendor the crafted good better than raw mats for example)

herbalism isnt as good- i have another alt alchemist (pots dont seem to make much but openly admit i havent spent much time zeroing in on alchemy money making) who i send herbs to; i have gotten to the point where i vendor all silverleaf, peacebloom, mageroyal?(already forgot name)

sometimes i vendor earthroot
and sometimes i will sell a stack of briarthorn vs use it for pots

so, i would say get skinning on all toons, have a lw to grease a little more money out of mats, and then do what you want with rest of available professions

dont neglect fishing and cooking

i have made 1/2 my gold either selling or flipping fishing/cooking mats (and we are talking pretty low level mats too)

Skinning makes the least amount of money of the gathering skills, but the supply is plentiful. It’s usually better to just vendor stacks of scraps, light leather, and medium leather rather than deal with the surplus on the AH.

Herbalism doesn’t make much money early on, because Peacebloom and Silverleaf are plentiful, and players dont have the spare coin to spend on low-level potions (at least, not to the point where you can profit on Peacebloom and SIlverleaf). Vendor Peacebloom, Silverleaf, Earthroot, and Bruiseweed. You might have some luck selling Mageroyal, but that should usually just be vendored, too.

Once you get past ~150 Herbalism, herbs will start selling on the AH (except Bruiseweed – it’s Peacebloom II). Once you get past 225 Herbalism, herbs (sans Khadgar’s Whisker) will sell on the AH because they can be used for potions and elixirs that raiders want.

Mining makes more money than Herbalism initially, because there is a greater demand for Copper Ore than there is for Peacebloom or Silverleaf. There is a constant demand for Thorium bars (but the market is likely saturated) and Arcane Crystals.

Comparing 300 Herbalism to 300 Mining – I would say that Herbalism is the way to go, since the demand for potions/elixirs/flasks will be greater than the demand for Thorium and Arcane Crystals. But you really can’t go wrong with either.

None of the gathering professions synchronize with Tailoring particularly well, but Mining would be the least useful (at least some tailoring crafts require skins or herbs).
