so i was on wowhead and was going through the convergance points for the ever-shifting mirror you can buy from the vendor and i see that netherstorm is not listed on there at all. why not? wasn’t the whole point of the netherstorm that it was a area of old draenor that got ripped apart when ner’zuhl opened a portal during the end of the beyond the dark portal expansion in warcraft 2 and unleashed a cataclysm on draenor in an effort to escape the world of draenor and kil’jaeden’s wrath after their failure to destroy the races of azeroth?
Pretty sure Netherstorm looked the way it did because Kael’thas turned the engines of Tempest Keep into devices to suck the arcane energy out of the land. Prior to that it was very much like Nagrand.
Netherstorm was supposed to be Farahlon on Alternate Draenor, but it was cut along with other planned content for WOD
Since Farahlon never made it to the game, Netherstorm has no equivalent
EDIT: Farahlon was supposed to be a large island at the top right of the map, similar location to Netherstorm
Makes sense that it was an island since in Outland, Blades Edge & Netherstorm aren’t connected, the goblins built a bridge between the zones
The way I understand it is the portal explosion created Netherstorm the way it is now and Kael’thas used Tempest Keep to suck up the nether energy.
but yet it was convergenance points in zangarmarsh when that zone is cut as well…
Zangarmarsh is the Zangar Sea, the body of water between Frostfire Ridge & Nagrand on Alternate Draenor
The AU Draenor zones don’t quite line up with the Outland zones for creative reasons.
