Question about multi accounts

My son has been asking to play this game with me, and I’ve heard that it is possible for him to have his “own” WoW account while still being under my battle.net account, so that I can control both. I have some questions that I can’t seem to find answers to about this.

  1. Isn’t this considered account sharing? Will I lose my main account over doing something like this?
  2. Can we both be logged in at the same time, as long as I have my own WoW license and he logs into a different license (under the same bnet account)?
  3. Will I have to grind out the allied races again on his account, or will he have access to those since they’re “account wide”?
  4. He lives part of the year in Canada with his mom, if we’re on the same bnet account and I live in Texas, how will this work with the authenticator? Can I simply approve his log in while he’s in Canada from my phone and then he’ll be good to go?

Thanks for the help, still kinda on the fence about this but hopefully some more insight will be beneficial.

Not account sharing,completely legit.
Yes,you can be logged in at same time. Note: any bnet messages will go to both of you. No grind, everything is shared, all achieves. You can set it so you dont have to put in auth everytime. The first time he logs in from there blizz will want some proof it is one of you . Iirc i had to send them an id? It was like six years ago though. I was in another state vacationing at the time.

Nope not account sharing what will happen is you will have a drop menu says play wow (1) or (2) something to that nature they can play at same time you do.
I believe the merge still keeps account separate not 100% so possible they might get your mounts/pets.
You can authenticate your other device to log in when they try you will get a prompt to allow or deny make sure you have it set to verify devices then you will only need to allow them to log in once.
Under acc settings security switch off the always require a code and make sure device verification is on then follow steps to make/merge account you should only need to use authenticator once after that and anyone else trying get one will trigger the prompt allow/deny.

Np your account being the main one should be the drop menu wow(1) if i remember correctly so just make sure they other is set to 2.

You do in fact get all the mounts, pets, toys, and archives on all licenses on the same bNet ac. This includes pathfinder.

As long as he’s a minor, this is all fine. But as soon as he turns 18? he has to get his own account and sadly, start all over.

  1. not account sharing as long as they are a minor. It is best that you set them up with thier own account that way when they become an adult you can treansfer the account to them and they will not have to leave all the account bound stuff behind.

  2. yes you just need to set the launcher to close after the game opens. You can then restart the launcher and open another wow account.

  3. not sure on this if you do the separate account.

  4. you can “clone” your mobile authenticator to more than one device, I have mine on 4 different devices, you just need the serial # and restore to do it. And the authenticator can be used on up to 3 accounts.

I run 2 linked accounts together all the time.
All mounts and pets will be shared, but only one account at a time will be able to do pet battles.

Once your son becomes an adult and needs a separate account, separating the accounts will mean one or the other of you will lose all mounts, pets and toys.
Considering this, and the fact you are not saving any money by using linked accounts, you may want to set him up with a separate account from the start, so he can start acquiring his own mounts, pets and toys.

As someone mentioned before. BNET whispers going to both of you could be troublesome and that alone would be the reason I wouldn’t choose that option.

Maybe there is an option or parental control to turn off bnet whispers or something

Wait what? I know of several married couples who share a bnet account and play wow. Id check with Blizzard on the whole once he is 18 thing. I cant tell you if it is against the tos or what but I would double check.

Anyway, tbh you probably are better off in the long run getting him his own bnet account. I shared a steam account when my youngest was he was really young and now all our games are forever intertwined and we cant both play online at the same time.-.- Its annoying.

A word of warning on the linked mounts and such. Unless they’ve changed it (unless I’ve heard wrong), any and all mounts on the accounts, doesn’t matter which account received/farmed them, stay on the main account if/when the accounts are separated.

I shared my bnet with my child from Wrath to Legion when she turned 18. You can only share your bnet with one kid. I could see her bnet whispers and she could see mine. The pet battle tab is locked out to whoever logs in second, which was annoying.

Anyways, when she became an “adult,” (using this term loosely) Blizzard was nice enough to move her account off my bnet. That was a good day.
