Question about Mechagnomes

Some people have said they don’t like how mechagnomes look. What are your main gripes about Mechagnomes appearance wise and how would you change the design?

For one of my simplier projects, I am doing a Big Daddy styled mechagnome. In the process perhaps I can come up with something that looks cooler for Mechagnomes.

You mean other than the obvious “they’re gnomes” bit?

I think mechagnomes look pretty cool in their heritage armor. But without it they look a little “disjointed”. Like, It seems hard to find good transmog for them. If I was changing their design I would make them overall more mechanical.

I would say make the limbs customizable .

Say let the player decide 1 or 2 arms same with legs

I wish they would make one option like Camille in League of Legends. Just straight blades for legs.

That way I can make a Mechagnome monk and then when I kick someone instead of really really hurting, they just lose a limb or something.

But they look fine as is and their emotes are so good.

If you don’t like them, don’t play them. They make up such a tiny percentage of characters that Blizzard probably isn’t going to bother dumping any more resources into them. Look how long it took for them to update the worgen… Barely anyone played them, so they were an absolute bottom priority.

No amount of spiffying them up is going to make more people play them. Gnomes were always a really low pick as well. Lots of people have ego problems and don’t like playing tiny ugly races.

It’s something new and different to try. All options aren’t going to appeal to everyone; hence why there a multitude to select from. People should be grateful that they give us all these extras.

Personally i’d add more customisation to the arms and legs myself, i believe theres a head one missing that involves a skullcap not being there.
They’re lossing Bracers, Gloves and Boots entirely from transmog, some old helmets are buggered with them so thats 0.25 of the helmets lost in transmog and pants well thats either half or 0.75 lost since a majority look like im sad to say Diapers.

They need more options to justify that loss ie crotch plate customisations or make the diaper thing literally optional, half cyborgified ie one arm thats mechanised and one thats not for example, maybe a mixture between the plain hand and the gripper hand types as well, that sort of stuff they need more of since its removing thousands of transmog for 4 options of arms and basically 2 legs (plated and non plated basically) and 3 colourations and thats it.

I will admit the Chronomancer transmog Mages have is GOD DAMN BEAUTIFUL! on them, like a Xeler from Wakfu type beautiful.
Im also biased on the fact we unbalanced races for Mechagnomes vs Vulpera (sub vs new races when it should’ve been sub vs sub or new vs new), another person grip is Mechagnomes as a name shouldn’t have been used, those are fully mechanised titan created Gnomes from Northrends Ulduar, we should’ve called these guys Junkergnomes or Rustbolt Gnomes both of which i personally feel sound cooler.

Anything that isn’t a dress looks pretty awful on them.

They have their diaper bodies, they can’t transmog arm or leg armor.

I don’t like that they’re normal gnomes with a mechanical limb or two. I would be interested in making an alt in King Mechagon’s vision of what a mechagnome should be.

Each mechanical bit should be optional so mogs aren’t completely invalidated.

Also, one color for heritage is atrocious when we see at least three used for NPCs. Rude, Blizz. Rude. (This applies for all the datamined Lightforged and other heritage armors and weapons as well.)

I like them and think their heritage armor looks great. I’ll be rocking that!

I swapped my main (monk) from fem gnome to fem mechagnome

Love some of the hair styles, disappointed with the color options, where’s my green hair :frowning:

My main gripe is how hard it is to find mogs that match the arms and legs well enough. And really the transmog limitations… Surely I can still wear boots and gloves

I think I’ll go back to regular gnome before long

I personally would’ve had a toggle for the limbs; one version bare, as we currently have, the other integrated with gear. The latter would either be done as modifying the limbs to match the palate of the pants/top or (the likely much more work intensive option) providing a custom appearance to the limbs based on the item; like having extra plates attached to the legs when wearing plate pants, for example.

You still get to show off the robot stuff without butchering the general aesthetic of the gear. One of the main reasons their Heritage Armor looks as good on them as it does is because the limbs aren’t superseding parts that provide a uniform appearance. This also could possibly avoided the ‘Diaper Gnome’ meme if done right…or at all.

A greater variety in mechanicals would also be great. I was slightly disappointed when I found that there were only two choices for legs and about twice that for arms, for example. Having a wider range of robotic looks to mix around would be great for both aesthetics and fantasy.

I think they look fine, actually. The main problem I had with them was that they were released together with Vulpera, a re-skin vs a brand new race lorewise.

I’d like to see full-robot mode, as well as the option to show pants entirely instead of the “diaper” thing they currently show.

Mechagnomes as a concept are fine, they just need a few more customization options. Namely, to at least show the forearms and shins of hand and feet armor, respectively. Just something on the extremities that could be mogged to match the armor on the torso. That alone would go a long way to making non-plate/mail mogs work on these guys.
