I spent a little time on my miner/JC alt yesterday because I finally got renown to the 200% catchup rate for my alts.
Anyway, after about an hour of mining, I was still finding the little stones that give +1 mining knowledge.
We have a similar thing in herbalism with the petals that give +1 and the blossom (only ever found one per week) that give +3.
After reset, you find these little blooms and petals at a rather rapid pace until you’ve looted like 5 or 6 (never counted, and I wish I would have). After that, you get them much more slowly or not at all.
For alts, though, I’m wondering if anyone’s tested or counted these little +1/+3 knowledge drops from treasures (crafting profs) and the nodes (gathering profs). Is that the catchup? I have assumed it would be, but I could not get enough data in my short little mining run to know for sure.
There is currently no catch-up
There are weekly knowledge drops but it has nothing to do with any catch-up

That’s not the catch up my fellow Druid that is literally how you get the most knowledge points for gathering. You get 5 Dreambloom petals each gives 1 point per week then you get 1 Dreambloom which gives 3 per week. Same with mining and skinning, just different names. There are also ones that you can get that are way rarer but can be obtained all the time they show up in the journals which I recommend putting on an action bar, once you hit 50 skill you can start doing gathering quests per week too.
That is indeed what you get initially and relatively quickly. However if you have a really big gathering week you eventually start getting more dreambloom petals. It is easier to get the extras from mining though.

I’m pretty sure that’s a different one if it as after the epic one. There’s two different blue ones that drop, one that is capped and one you can get infinite of, both are listed in your journal. The capped one actually has the count left for you in the journal as well.
I’ve been doing herb farming on my alchy/herb army of alts for the last couple of months and I never get more of the capped one after the epic, but I do get the other one.
You guys seem to be misunderstanding me. Yes, I am aware that these drop weekly for everyone.
On my alt, however, they do not seem to slow down after I get 5 of them like they do on my main…hence, the question. I will start keeping count from now on.
