So I’m trying out classic. Some things I noticed that bother me a little bit, but not too much:
1.) I can’t see the health (numbers) of a target, any target. Like I can’t see the hp of an enemy or a friendly player. Is there an option in the display? Because I looked and looked and couldn’t find it.
2.) This doesn’t bother me that much, but I assume new quests (those with the exclamation points) don’t show up on the minimap?
3.) No timer on DoTs. Like, I’m playing a priest, can’t see the time remaining on shadow word pain, as an example.
I only started playing WoW in BC, so maybe my memory isn’t so great.

As far as I know the only way to get health numbers is via an addon.

Nope quests will not be shown on the map. You’ll need a questing addon for that. I would suggest you just read the quest texts and take in the story of the game instead though.

Again, you will need an addon for this. I know the feel because it’s difficult to time cheap shot into kidney shot or gouge in Vanilla where there are no timers.
The basic Vanilla interface was pretty unrefined. It doesn’t bother me too much though. You can find an addon to just about anything.
But keep in mind that any enemy HP/mana numbers that an addon shows you are somewhat inaccurate – they’re either being pulled from a database in the addon (for mobs) or are being calculated/guesstimated by the addon based on your combat log and the enemy’s health percentage.
In vanilla enemy HP numbers were not visible to anything, not even addons.

HP numbers weren’t shown for enemies in vanilla.
correct, they weren’t added until later.
what about for friendly players or group members? I can’t see it on friendly players, which seems kind of odd. I would think if I’m healing, I’d want to know how much health my tank has.
