Just want to ask the hunter community which are the best talents (as a BM hunter) for visions, which essences do you prefer and which pet family do you use tenacity for survivability? ferocity for leach and BL? cunning for the speed and anti roots?
looking forward to reading all your recommendations.
thanks!
Standard BM talents… same as I use for M+. I used to run Purification Protocol, but I got tired of swapping (or forgetting to swap back… lol). BotE works great. I always run clefthoof, and I never heal it… it’s a monster. Early on I ran the Spirit Beast, but he would die if not careful… the clefthoof does not die.

Ferocity pets for the leech. No contest whatsoever. Ferocity pets can tank everything and will never die.
It’s basically the same build as for Dungeons, meaning you care about cleaving. So aspect of the Beast will be more useful than Killer Cobra. I quite like using Trailblazer too.
I use the same essences as normal PvE. Vision of Perfection is strong for everything. Works really well with Rapid Reload and triple Primal Instincts.

Pretty easy to solo. As the above posts said, you can just run with a standard mythic + build and gear setup.
Lately I just use my pvp gear and spec because I am lazy. Even with a pvp setup I end the vision with all 3 orbs.

The one difference I would make to the standard M+ build is taking Purification Protocol major and swapping out Iris minor for Visions of Perfection minor. Protocol is really nice to have in visions. It is a short cooldown, has a chance to delete mobs, gives you a damage buff if something dies in it, but perhaps most importantly: it stuns aberrations. A lot of mobs in visions are aberrations, including those annoying tentacles.

For an alt hunter, what would be the best r3 essence to first buy?
I’m not sure to be honest. My best guess would be Breath of the Dying and Focusing Iris. Both are BiS minors that can be used as majors while you gear up.
Vision of Perfection is only BiS when you have 3 Primal Instincts, which an alt might not get very easily (it’s still decent if you have 2). So before you get the complete build working, Breath of the Dying is a good major for single target and Focusing Iris is a good major for AoE.
I’ve been using Breath of the Dying as my major since i got it, and it is incredibly nice in visions. I can oneshot the blisters and nonelite trash mobs now, and when I have it at rank 3, I can probably oneshot elite trash (not the big Faceless Ones, but like the guards/archers/casters in SW) with the buff after getting a killing blow.
if you stand inside the tentacle hitbox they don’t burrow.

Breath is incredibly strong in visions. Most “normal” mobs can be straight one-shot with it once you have the buff rolling, which means you just get to delete something every 5 seconds. It can also be used at the start of the fight with bosses or minibosses to delete 1/3 - 2/3rds of their HP (I’m not running masks yet on my hunter, but even on my rogue, it removes huge chunks of HP on bosses). It can also be used very effectively to snipe certain boss mechanics, like one-shotting boars on Rexxar (and Thrall) as they charge in. I really can’t recommend Breath enough for Horrific Visions, it’s just so freakin’ strong in there.

Sure, but some times you don’t want to be standing still on one spot. I typically do visions with 1 other person and often they are undergeared or flat out not able to come with me due to a low cloak rank. In 5 mask with two people the tentacles have about 750k health so standing still while burning that is a lot of time for other mechanics to interfere i.e. smash from other mobs or Dark Delusions. Purification Protocol helps kill them quickly and cleanly without them burrowing if I have to move.
I used a pet as marks in there. No standing in stuff. I also do visions solo. No mask runs, because I cbf doing mask runs.
Same Talents as Mythics (don’t know if it’s the best):
2-2-2-2-2-1-1
Major Essence:
Purification Protocol (stun and vaporizing stun and drain mobs)
I think I’ve run Breath before too. It quite effective as well.
Minor Essences (not as important what you choose here):
Breath of the Dying
Blood of the Enemy
Essence of the Focusing Iris
Ferocity Pet for Primal Rage and Leech
I actually typically take Camo for Visions, there are a few skips you can do with it (like the first few packs after Misha in Rexxar’s area, if you hug the right side). Trailblazer also has arguments for it. There’s simply not enough damage intake to justify Natural Mending, imo.

For Orgrimmar weeks, I just run through on a mount and Feign Death. I have the mount equipment to prevent daze, which helps. I generally fight maybe 4 NPCs outside Grommash Hold, because they will always aggro when you enter, but I don’t touch anything else in that area.
For Stormwind, I generally clear the courtyard outside the cathedral, mostly out of habit because I had to do that when I started visions due to not having the cloak upgraded enough to survive otherwise.
Clefthoof, camo, usually face pounding cd essence (breath, purification, iris)
BUT one of the best things you can do you, is get the weak aura that shows you the CD of TITAN. Timing your boss pulls with the add kills makes a HUGE difference.

I love that addon, but recently the buff duration countdown has been missing, which is…quite annoying.
Hogx that’s funny I’ve been doing same thing. I’m to lazy to swap so just running in PvP gear lmao. Why bother. Anyway made an easy to follow guide for y’all it’s on YouTube. I don’t really cover talents just a moderately easy route to take. You don’t even have to check vials or get lucky on the bonus damage guy being up. This runs super easy and is done in PvP gear. Hope it helps. https://youtu.be/KACzr9Kw3Sg
