Question about Hunter/Warlock Pets in BGs

What happens when you rez in a battleground as a pet class?

Do you have the same pet you died with?
What if it has a Soul Shard cost? Do you still get it, or does it remove a Soul Shard from you?
If it’s dead, do you have to revive/resummon?

Thanks!

Man, I cannot remember, but I think you have to resummon your pet. For a hunter, that is easy peasy and instant.

A warlock, yeah, that takes a shard. But watching AV it looks like you res with the pet you had previously, so I don’t know anymore.

Man, 14 year old memories are really bizarre things.

You’ve got that right… I remember it both ways honestly.
I remember having to re-summon in AV but not having to in AB.
14 years is a long time ago.

edit: I also think if you died before your pet you got a soulshard back.

From what I can remember it was a patch after BGs were in that let you res with your pet.

I’m not 100% if it’s the same for Warlocks but as a Hunter if your pet dies then you die you will both be ressed but say your pet dies and you don’t you’ll be without a pet until revive/resummon it or die and res at spirit healer.

I didn’t play many pet classes in Vanilla until later on (and never got any to any real high level). But if my memory serves, it worked similarly to how it does today (at least at the end of Vanilla). If you died before your pet, you revived with the same pet you had before you died. If your pet died before you and you didn’t use a revive/resummons ability you had to resummon the pet (you may have even had to still cast revive pet as a hunter I don’t really remember and I might be remembering later patches).

Good question, IIRC ressing with your pet was added several expacs later

warlocks have to resummon their pet
hunters pet will be alive if it was not physically killed

Yes, this is how it used to work up until Cataclysm I believe.

I could be wrong, but if your Hunter Pet was killed, you had to revive it. If it wasn’t, then you’d respawn with it. If you are a Warlock, you’d have to resummon your pet regardless.

If your pet dies you need shard. (Your pet will get frequently one shotted) Warlocks has to farm few bags prior to bgs in order to have a pet.

If your pet didn’t die, you respawned with it. Then you spend half your mana bar self buffing. Every priest and lock sits down to drink lol, after every res.

Hope this helps.

Run with an imp, then :stuck_out_tongue:

If I remember right, destruction/Fire locks running with imps did some MASSIVE damage in PVP back in the day.

Imp for life!

(They don’t require a shard)

Seems to be a lot of misinformation in here.

The way it’s working in the beta:

Yes. But I think if someone kills your pet before they kill you then you rez without a pet.

I was rezing with my pet as a Warlock in the AV test. But I know a few times I didn’t. So I’m assuming it was because my pet was killed first.

From Patch 1.5 for Hunters and Warlocks. I don’t think either applied if the pet was killed before the player though.

  • Spirit Guides in Battlegrounds will now summon/resurrect your current pet when the Hunter is resurrected.
  • Spirit Guides in Battlegrounds will now resurrect your last Imp, Voidwalker, Succubus or Felhunter. If the Doomguard or Infernal were the last active pet or the previous pet was killed before the Warlock, an Imp will be summoned.
