Hi fam, so I never did this event before. I was hoping somebody could answer three questions for me. I have got to the point where I unlocked my first three abilities that keep the insanity lower or whatever, but can’t seem to get any more currency, it’s like an eye of sauron looking thing. Not even sure what it’s called.
Second, what is the point of filling up the little items in the lobby before you start? They all have a percent on them, and I’m not sure what they’re for.
What are masks?
Oh, one more, should I just be farming black blood from the harder areas and hoping for more mog drops, is that the point?
Displaced corrupted mementos earned inside the Vision are traded to Augermu for Echo of N’Zoth. That’s the currency you use to buy abilities on the Hourglass tree.
Those are “tributes.” Completing activities inside the HV will fill those bars, and at certain thresholds along each bar, you’re granted respective buffs inside the HVs.
Masks are ways to add additional challenges to each HV run, For instance, Long Night reduces your total sanity by 50%. Completing HVs while wearing masks can yield better results and achievements.
Worth noting some of these are EXTREMELY potent. Maxing out the elite exterminators gives you 150 insanity whenever you kill an elite, and one of the others when maxed provides a very potent speed buff.
One thing you have to realise is the talent trees are very strong. It’s not 10% drain reduction because the base is already 50%, it’s 50% to 60%, then 60 to 70, then 70 to 80, then 80 to 90.
You will be taking five times less sanity in a few weeks.
I’m still muddling through, and some of the mobs are gifting 50 Sanity when I kill them, but it doesn’t seem consistent to me yet. I don’t know what the different potions do yet either. Well, one is -100 Sanity (is that always the one in the courtyard? Is that always -100?) Another gifts 100 sanity, and another I think gives you an intermitted dragons breath. Now sure what the reset do.
Only elites grant this, which is mostly lieutenants (think the crawler in Mage district by the base of the tower) and the end bosses of each wing count as well.
Thanks for the responses. Where do I get the masks from? It seems once I earned 8 black blood for now I can’t earn anymore until I’m guessing next week?
To earn the first mask, you need to clear all 5 areas of Stormwind, including defeating Alleria. This grants you Mask of the Long Night.
Next run, you’d wear that mask – which will cut your total sanity capacity in half – and complete different objectives to unlock other masks.
While wearing Long Night, if you:
clear Old Town and defeat Alleria, you get Mask of the Pained.
clear Mage District and defeat Alleria, you get Mask of Dark Imagination
Things like that. Each mask grants a different challenge to your next runs. They can be individual runs, or a single run if you’re able to finish that much. There are guides on Wowhead and other 3rd-party sites.
You get your first mask from your firfst full clear, the rest are from doing objectives with the mask equipped. The first mask you get is BY FAR the hardest one, so when you get it just quickly get any other then swap over and don;t bother with that one again until you can wear all 5 at once.
Aww ok, I think I have a ways to go. I can do one easier section and one hard section right now, plus aleria. So have to figure out how to get two more in. Thanks everybody.
Got my first mask. Ran out of orbs, was fighting Alleria, she did that chain maneuver with the stun, I die when she’s at like 1% health, and I got carried by Soridormi who finished her off? Anyway, got the mask lol. Thanks for the help everybody.
Now you have that mask, focus on getting the other 3 that are only in stormwind. Get one of them then swap to it and take the other off to get the rest it’ll be way easier.
1 comes from clearing old town wearing at least 1 mask.
1 from mage quarter wearing at least 1 mask.
And 1 can be looted from the wall between old town and trade district in the canals, guarded by a big pack of mobs
ah, you are playing with the helper. From what i have read, playing with the helper is actually harder than just going solo, as it drastically increases enemy health and maybe damage. Not sure what class you are playing, but you should give it a go without the helper if you can.
