Question about feral bite above 50% energy and saber jaws

Hey question
is that still a thing to bite above 50% energy or is that mechanic now baked into the talent saber jaws? Or is saber jaws just another multiplier to bigger bites?

In the “Ferocious Bite” tooltip it says this but it never used like 50 energy. Only 25 or is it a hidden trigger and look for 50 energy, but only uses 25 to get 100% more value. And that would mean with saber its like 180% increased bite damage with 50 energy.

Finishing move that causes Physical damage per combo point and consumes up to 25 additional Energy to increase damage by up to 100%.

Im confused tried to get damage numbers on a target dummy but thats not really helpful for me. and its not even 100% more like 50% idk maybe im bad at math.

Ferocious Bite itself has the “extra 25 energy for 100% increased damage” baked in.
Saber Jaws is another multiplier.

So you need the full 50 energy for the full benefit. The reason it never seems to use that full 50 is because of Soul of the Forest that’ll return at least 15 energy with a full 5 combo point bite, plus the 10 per second (reduced by haste) energy regen that happens naturally.

It’s hard to pinpoint exact damages when there could be latency issues slowing down the button press to ability activation which could throw off 1-2-3 energy points changing damages. Not to mention crit taking into account, and any procs that can increase Master/Vers/Crit affecting said numbers.

So if we use just 1 point of Saber Jaws (40% for extra damage for extra energy) it would look like:

FB: 50k base
+25 energy = +50k = 100k Bite
Saber Jaws 50 * 1.4 = 70k + 50k base = 120k Bite

With Ferocious Bites extra damage up to 25 energy, it’s 4% increase in damage per extra energy spent. With Saber Jaws it’s 5.6% (7.2% for 2 points) per energy up to the additional 180% for a 50 energy Bite.

A 36 energy bite would give you 50k + (50k * [9 * .04]) = 68k Bite
36 energy bite with 1 rank of Saber Jaws puts you at 50k + (50k * [9 * .04 * 1.4]) = 75.2k Bite

Saber Jaws does not apply to Apex procs nor does it apply to Bites from Convoke.
