So I am trying to learn more about how wow classic mounts work. In this guide I am reading it says that:
This means you will save 200 if you’re trying to buy an epic mount (which usually costs 1,000), which is pretty significant. Note that these mounts are also considered Bind on Use , meaning that if someone else has both of these discounts they can buy them for you cheaper.
I am playing an undead, but really want a wolf mount. Does this mean I could have an orc buy me the wolf mount and I don’t require the rep to buy it? It’s exalted to buy the epic one for another race correct? How much for the rare one? Honored?
I am doing the math and if I can get honored with org on my own… it would take 660 stacks of runecloth to get me my mount. Or does that rep just give you the discount?
Iirc you have to specifically learn wolf riding and that’s what stops you

Man, that’s a great question. I’m about to buy an epic myself and want a wolf as a troll shaman. I hope someone knowledgeable will answer. I’ll ask my guild it’s and get back if I get anything
If you want a wolf you have two options… Farm Exalted with Org or farm exalted with Alterac Valley rep… AV ones is cheaper but it isnt out yet
They can buy it for you and you can have it in your inventory but you can not use it if you aren’t exalted with that race
I for one was not honored with gnome but my friend gnome was and he was able to buy my mount for discount. But this is the only work around for something unrelated
So other than the runecloth repeatable quest and doing all the org rep quests I can… is there any other way to get rep?
the easiest way to get other races mount is from day 1 and grinding all their rep quests early on, because as you outscale the quests the 100-150 rep rewards turn into 10 each. It’s pretty harsh I learned the hard way myself because I wanted tiger on gnome.
Once you move past the starting zones there is of course higher level zones that reward rep as well check out wowhead for your race/ another races affiliated mount they have all quests and the rep you get from there at the correct level
I mean, if money means a lot to you, you should be aware that 660 stacks of runecloth amounts to over 700 gold on its own. That’s without taking into account the cost of the mount itself.
Now the other crucial thing you’re misunderstanding from your post is the faction discounts. In retail the way faction discounts work is:
- Neutral - 0%
- Friendly - 5%
- Honored - 10%
- Revered - 15%
- Exalted - 20%
In Classic the way the faction discounts work is:
- Neutral - 0%
- Friendly - 0%
- Honored - 10%
- Revered - 10%
- Exalted - 10%
- Honored + PvP Rank 3 - 20%
Since PvP ranks are not out yet, the biggest discount you could possibly obtain is 10%, for a 900g total.
Now if you choose to wait for Phase 2 to get rank 3, that’s fine, but if you choose to wait for Phase 3, you could also just get an epic wolf from AV exalted.
Since Blizzard chose to implement the late model AV with a cheap wolf, but mashed that together with the patch where mount training cost nothing and the mounts themselves were expensive, you can end up getting an epic mount for a grand total of 9g.
Enjoy.

Are Pvp mounts coming out in phase 3 as well? I would assume this would be a work around for that unless Pvp mounts require the riding as well from the races riding trainer… I started in BC and it didn’t require so I’m not sure about classic
With AV rep can I only get one type of wolf? I really like the white one that is currently in the game.
Also could you explain

A bit more that makes no sense to me.
PvP mounts (as in Black War variants) will be available as early as Phase 2, because they came in with the ranking system at rank 11. Unfortunately these mounts were rewarded to you and were race specific, so an UD got a bone horse, cows got kodos, etc.
The mount I’m talking about specifically though, is:

or the Alliance Ram variant.
For those mounts, riding skills were not required. The only requirement was AV exalted, so it represents an excellent alternative path for an epic mount without a terribly monotonous gold or cloth grind (unless you hate PvP).
Hmm it must’ve gotten changed in BC then cause I remember being too poor to afford a mount on my dwarf hunter and I just grinded BGs until I had a sweet armored saber mount
In BC the honor ladder from Vanilla was no longer a thing. What you may be remembering is using marks to purchase the mount from your Champion’s Hall—but at that point, training was expensive, not the mount, so I’m a little confused as to how this could have saved you a whole lot of money.

Eh my memory is hazzy perhaps it was a 60% mount I’m not sure if those exist in Pvp, or maybe it was in wrath
Was definitely marks of honor at champion hall though
I did play at the very tail end of original vanilla but mostly BC perhaps this is what happened I was only like 11 or 12 at the time so I can’t remember right
