My son and I are playing night elf and gnome. It’s been forever since I played these areas. How long until we can meet up and start leveling together?
thanks,

thanks,
I ran this guy from Elwynn Forest to Teldrassil to play with my buddy on his Night Elf. I don’t remember what level, but I imagine you can do it pretty early on.
That’s the nice thing: there’s no hard limit. You just gotta put in the legwork. See what I did there?
2 options.
1: wait a day or two and there will be mages high enough level to use portals, take a portal over to the other starting city.
2: leg it. Nothing stopping you from getting to teldrassil other than a long journey. It will take 30 minutes to an hour to get there. If you do this REMEMBER TO GET FLIGHTPOINTS!
Edit: You might get to experience this
You can just leg it at Lvl one. There is no death penalty at that level, so not a big deal when you get smoked a couple of times.
That being said, you might want to take into consideration the difficulty of questing and training if you are planning on playing in an area that does not offer the class you have selected. No trainers. No quests for that class. It can make things very tough and expensive.
If at all possible, start together in the same area. NE, Human, or Dwarf/Gnome. That way you will be assured that trainers and class quests are easily available.
there’s a couple of videos showing the ‘shortcut’ run from IF to Menethil over the mountain with a strategic ‘jump death’ once you show in Menethil harbor.
Another shows a trick of jumping off the boat in Menethil at an exact point that lets you swim along the shoreline to get into the IF area, and you can just drown yourself at that point.
both take about 20 minutes of running not counting deaths out of the trip, but, you lose the flightpoints you’d pick up.
I say just make the run, i’m guessing you won’t be alone if you ask others to go with you
Technically, you or he, can walk at level 1 to each others start zones. Took me about 30 minutes to get my night elf to Dun Morogh.
I am planning on sending my human to darnassus myself. I just want to do the nelf starting quests at level to get a bit more reputation with them (grey quests only give about 3/4 of the rep).
I wanna be that one human riding a nightsaber.
Start running. It’s a long way. It may take you an hour or two, depending on how many times you get ganked by players or high level NPCs.
Also, go to him, not the other way around. The Night Elf area will be SUPER CROWDED with all the Elf lovers, whereas on the other hand you’ll have access to more zones more easily, better capital cities, and everything else if you go to Gnome/Dwarf starting area.
(Having said that, Teldrassil is beautiful and a very peaceful place to play, especially combined with the serenity of the Night Elf… when there’s not 1000 people in your grille.)
Haha, Wetlands isn’t bad, but you will feel the pain if you want to go through Searing Gorge and such!
You can almost immediately…you can do the death fall from the mountain in Kharanos and go straight to a graveyard in Menethil Harbor and skip running through the wetland. Rez at the Menethil Graveyard and run to the harbor. Hop on the boat to Auberdine (not the one to thermore). Once in auberdine there is another boat to Rut’theran village. Take that boat then you can take the portal into Teldrassil. There is a video on YouTube showing how to death jump to Menethil GY to save time by running through wetlands. Hope this helps.
That skips all the flight points though. IMO if you are going to make the trip might as well get the flight points on the way. You have to do it eventually anyway.
Oh man. I remember this well.
Brand new noob and having trouble even moving around sometimes. I got “stuck” on a boat…not the kind that went anywhere, just a parked one, and couldn’t figure out how to jump off. This guy came along and helped me, and we struck up a conversation. It ended up with “wanna see something cool?”
I kept following. And following. And was fairly sure I’d been kidnapped but by now had no idea where I was and was curious what was going on.
And that’s how a level 11 Draenei ended up questing in Westfall lol
Remember that in vanilla, unlike retail, you can ressurect at ANY spirit healer, not just the one nearest to where you died.
So it’s entirely possible to do the wetlands run and when you die, just stay in ghost form and run all the way to menethil harbor. There should be a boat to ruth-anon village, and you can even take it as a ghost if you want.
