Where do you go afyer silverpine forest. It doesnt have enough quests to get to hillsbrad without grinding.
The Barrens.
Yeah, you can go to the barrens or maybe even stonetalon.
Stone talon is not very good at level 17. Which is about where silverpine leaves you.
Well, you can start southern Barrens questing at that level.
Barrens or dungeons. You can survive sfk at 18-19 if you’re with 4 appropriately leveled people. or there’s… WC i think? Also honestly If you can find a friend or two to help do it efficiently grinding the elites in pyrewood isn’t a bad choice. That’s going to be a running theme though. Hillsbrad won’t get you high enough to do arathi, the beginning of arathi won’t get you high enough to do the end of arathi which wont get you high enough for the hinterlands or badlands etc. etc.
You’re gonna have to get used to bouncing between a few zones in the same level range and at some point you’re going to still have to grind out a few levels
WC or RFC. Do them a few times.
And there is also some PvP. Not sure how much xp you get from that.
0 xp from pvp.
Sadly the horde all get funneled into barrens, which will likely last you till STV
Zero

That’s right I remember stories of people being tricked in to accidentally leveling their 29 twinks.

I don’t know anymore, the new forum format is a potato
Get used to grinding in classic. You will need to do it.
Especially levels 58 to 60 when all quests in are finished.
Questing in the barrens is going to be chaos. All 4 of the horde races get funneled into there, undead a little later than others. I am going to try and avoid the barrens as much as I can, as I already know the competition for mobs on top of the low drop rates will be something I don’t want to mess with if I can avoid it. I may end up grinding in Darkshore since most of the Night Elves end up going to westfall instead, but then I will only be grinding and not questing, but would probably still be faster when you factor in much less competition for mobs.
Its going to be a mess even with layering.
You can’t just stick to 1 race’s zones. As undead, you still need to go to the barrens, do ragefire/wailing caverns. Then you should be in the 20s for hillsbrad, stonetalon, and ashenvale.
Btw, you did not need 2 threads for practically the same topic.
Here is the vanilla concept of quests… Devs initially made them to give you a guide on where to go grind, not just do quests. Kill/loot x y z in this area aka grind them for half a level while you are at it. Travel time takes forever, planning your quest routes is key. Unlike retail, 1 zone most definitely not give you enough level(s)/gear for you to just go to the adjacent zone so you just grind half a level each quest area. This works best combined with professions or raw drops/gold that drops. Humanoids drop cloth, vendor trash and raw money where as beasts drop cooking materials, vendor trash and allows you to skin them which makes grinding them fantastic.
Barrens, stone talon, ashenvale are around that range and most guides have you bouncing through them.
If anything, Silverpine is the skippable zone in that range.
All roads lead to STV. The roads leading there are a bit bumpy and winding, unfortunately. Your best bet is to patch over with dungeon spam, or just bite the bullet and head straight to Barrens. Another option I use every time I’m leveling is never to use quests to finish a level. Even if I’m ready to turn in, if I’m over 50% of the way there I grind out the rest before I turn in. It actually adds up quite a bit.
