There is an in-game support article about it already:

Can’t Complete the Quests SI:7 Report: Lost in the Woods

Updated: 11 hours ago

Article ID: 171497

Product: World of Warcraft

Common Problems

  • I’m taking too much damage when trying to kill the enemies for this quest
  • My character isn’t doing enough damage and I can’t complete the quest SI:7 Report: Lost in the Woods

We have received several reports of this issue and can confirm it is not working as intended. Currently, we do not have a workaround or resolution that can be provided. We apologize for any inconvenience while our developers work as quickly as possible to resolve the issue.

If you discover a new issue, please submit a new.

Note: Bugs submitted in-game do not receive a personal response. Instead, they’ll be directed to the teams responsible for addressing them.

I am also unable to complete the quest. Rell takes too much damage.

Here’s how I did it as a 17 hunter:

First Hozen will spawn and aggro. Use ability 3 first to stun, then 2, then spam 1. I was left with 70%-ish health. I start running away as far as I can. I get some ticks of regen before the second Hozen spawns.

Second Hozen spawns, it aggros me and runs towards me. I’m quite a ways away from the the crashed plane at this point. I use the same strategy as I did the first Hozen. It dies, and I’m so far away that the 3rd Hozen doesn’t automatically aggro me, so I am free to chill and regen (albeit very slowly) back to 100%.

I move back towards the plane after fully rested, and I notice the last Hozen and the General(?) Elite Hozen have both spawned but not aggroed on me. They are not near each other, so I pick off the third Hozen using the same strategy as the others (3, 2, 1, 1, 1).

General has still not aggroed me so I’m good to chill and rest back to 100%.

Then what I did to kill the General was run through him spamming ability 3 and then quickly ability 2 - I do not stop running forward. Ability 3 stuns, so it gave me enough time to get away from him before the stun wears off. He starts chasing me but he’s just barely out of melee range so he can’t hit me. I keep running until ability 3 is back up, then mouse flick around and run through him again spamming 3 and then 2. He hits me this time but he is stunned again, giving me enough time to get out of his melee range…

Rinse and repeat until he was dead, which left me with 30%-ish health. Jousted.

Same as 7/27/2024 I concur also. Very annoying

First time I got my but handed to me.
Second time… I put my back to the small hill above the plane. Not to far, but enough that they were down by the NPC. Killed them without them attacking me.

I’m also having the same issue.

Same issue here, lvl 17 Unholy DK

Maybe solved this in a somewhat strange manner:

Took the advice above about kiting; ran north with the second hozen until I got the warning about returning to the area (as a marker, there are two identical small trees, kind of like a soccer goal, with a lamp in the middle from the path just beyond it), and that was far enough away that after killing the second mob the third ambusher and the elite did not aggro me. After waiting to fully regen, I arced around back to the plane and, once seeing where the final mobs had spawned, eased closer to the third ambusher to try to aggro it without also drawing aggro from the elite.

Bizarrely, once I got to what I guess was just inside aggro range, the third ambusher just up and died. Didn’t even aggro, just died. Then I edged up to the elite, and the same thing happened. By this point I had also realized the two friendly NPCs had despawned, but the pilot was still there saying her voice lines to no one in particular following the deaths. But, the quest was marked complete.

After a few moments where I couldn’t control Rell, the game loaded me back to the camp and now I’m good to go.

I’m writing this gritting my teeth. I have tried so many approaches, but it’s just impossible. I have been trying to complete the quest for several days now, I leveled from 19 to 37 and it’s still the same. The hozen just inflict so much damage. I tried running to the river and heal up there. Worked the first time until I got to the general mob. Two hits and I’m a goner. Then the second time the general despawned after I waited to heal up.

Please, can we have a fix for this asap? This literally prevents us from continuing the quest chain :frowning:

same it really makes it so you cant progress

I wanted to speed through the MoP storyline over these last few weeks.
If I were developing software, this would be a blocker. No workaround means we are stonewalled and burning the clock with limited time.

Can confirmed i think blizz found a fix! If you die and redo the story the hozen wont appear if you killed one of them! Just finished the whole quest chain now!

Can confirmed blizz fixed it! Im at the quest after the chain! Yay thanks blizz

Not fixed. Diabitison’s fix is not happening for me. Tried multiple times and they all always spawn.

This quest still has issues. I’ve tried everything. After the patch today, hoped it was fixed… Was able to kill three of the mobs once. Also tried running away. no luck. Without completing this quest most of the other Jade Forest quest are not available. Blizz please fix this quest.

In case anyone else stumbles into this thread, I believe there’s a workaround. It seems to sometime have varying results - sometimes the mobs disappear sometimes they die. Try following the directions exactly. I didn’t see these instructions but did something very similar which resulted in the General dropping dead:

  1. After talking to Kearnen - run west to the river. Make sure you look out the ‘return to zone’ message.
  2. Wait around 45 seconds until all the Hozen spawn (and they won’t aggro you)
  3. Make your way slowly (within a few minutes) to the edge of the blue quest circle on your minimap avoiding aggro on the hozen.
  4. Pick and aggro a single non elite Hozen and kill it.
  5. Remain just within the blue quest area circle for a few minutes
  6. The boss will just die and you will get quest complete.

This worked for me, thank you!

Here’s what worked for me, after initiating the dialog run west towards the rivers edge. Wait there for about a minute or so, by then everything should have spawned in. Get close enough that you can see them but not aggro them. After about 3-4 minutes you’ll notice they start dying off. Eventually, the boss guy will die and it will complete the quest. I tried it on 3 different toons and it worked each time. I did have a few tries where I wasn’t close enough and they de-spawned, after getting closer it worked every time.

This appears to maybe be fixed. I tried it again today around 4PM CST and I was one shotting them even with the weak attack. It wasn’t working for me yesterday though.
