Was fighting Lord Banehollow and he just disappears? Can’t seem to get him back left zone came back and even relogged and still nothing.
Same. I left the area after dying and he hasn’t returned. I reluctantly abandoned the quest to bring him back. Still haven’t got him down yet though.
If anyone has any tips on this fight I’d appreciate it. Can’t seem to survive it.
Where did you pick up the quest again? I abandoned it also cause it bugged but now I can’t find a way to get it back (or get back to Darkmoon)
I just got him down. I set down my gateway beforehand, and I used Subdugate Demon on his adds wherever possible. That made the difference for me.
Out near the mage tower, just before the overlook out towards Lion’s Rest.
Sadly I am Horde so that won’t work for me The cart to Darkmoon is gone from the Cleft of Shadows in Org
So I abandoned the quest as he disappeared for me as well. Went back to the NPC location and the cart is not there. I can see other warlocks disappearing but still no NPC. Anything I’m missing here?
EDIT: I had a friend share the quest with me and that allowed me to find her in the Blasted Lands.
same… I managed to pick up the quest again at the Alter of Storms.
This update has been a huge half baked disappointment for warlocks.
I am NOT happy with the decisions made with this update…
Now I’m worried that this will happen with me, because I have died to this guy so many times now, apparently a lot of people are having a hard time beating him.
I’m not sure how the decision was made to make him a 72 Elite. If he doesn’t scale to lvl then only a decently geared 70 will have a chance. (Normal players that is )
He can only be soloed as you are phased when fighting him.
I was successful using Fyreswrath’s advice in employing Subjugate Demon.
Thank you so much for this information!!!
I just want to clarify for anyone else stuck and looking for answers:
It is NOT the Altar of Storms in Blasted Lands but the Altar of Storms in the Burning Steppes
Yeah I had to abandon it too. Also didn’t realize I couldn’t kill him because he doesn’t scale. Why even let Warlocks get this quest chain if they aren’t 70 if you’re going to do that? Blizzard continues to have good ideas executed badly.
Destruction Warlock with Chaos Bolt spam made it easy as did the talent for Better Death Pact and making your Fire hit multiple enemies.
Kill Adds while your pet fights Boss.
I only needed 1 Health Stone and a couple Life Drains and 2 health funnels.
Scaling is bad though. It’s meant for everyone yet clearly was only tested at 70.
This is what eventually worked for me, as well as liberal use of Drain Life, Soulburn, and use of healthstones. I wish everybody here luck in tackling this one.
If anyone is struggling with this, here is my advice:
I had to spec destruction (I am always demo coz I love the feel of the spec, but it wasn’t working out fo this fight) so I had less abilities to manage. I took the standard set of abilities they give you except for me picking fel domination for quick re-summoning when my dominated demons die. I used the void walker. I was lvl 70, ilvl 386.
I am a very low skill player (I couldn’t do any of the mage towers from legion) so I kept it simple:
-Make my void walker (and any other pet I subjugated) focus on the big guy.
-Spam all my abilities on him and keep my firey bleeds up on any imps so they die.
-If missing any health, use the health and shield abilities
-Subjugate the dread lord and try to keep it alive with health funnel.
-Use the fel domination to resummon my voidwalker when it died
-Use subjugate on the fel hunter
And it died.
Again, I am a really bad player, I can’t do strategy, too much going on for me. All I did was this and keep out of his aoe and he slowly melted.
I hope this helps others. I think the point of this fight is to show the baddy that you can control demons, unlikethe fools he tricked in the questline.
Changing my spec to Destro and a little bit better gear (from 397) helped greatly! Got him down, I didn’t know how cool Destro is. It is much smoother play than Affliction. My Warlock was in Mothballs since ‘Legion’ so I never changed from Affliction… Way better! Funner too!
