The one thing I get tired of really fast in any MMO I play is clickable quest objects that only one person can click. It never fails that when mobs are blocking the quest object and you go to clear the mobs, someone will use that opening to grab the object. Anytime I see someone clear out mobs to get the quest object I move on and leave them alone.
Tonight I was doing the Pandaria invasion and going after the six banner quest. I was clearing out an elite by a banner and a horde death knight swooped into to grab it while I was busy. He also brought in an add and dragged it past my pet so it would take aggro with the cleave.
After I took care of my mob I pulled back my wrathguard and started to spam fear on the mob that he had tapped. At least I got a little satisfaction watching him try to chase down the mob to kill it.
I wish people weren’t such buttholes.
The worst part is that Blizzard has plenty of quests where the items are multi-useable, but I guess that would be too easy for invasions or something. 
Something I’ve proposed in other threads is for gameobjects to be able to enter combat just like mobs, except it only works for people who have the respective quest. So for example if you have the banner burning quest and you’re fighting two mobs near the banner, the banner enters combat with the mobs and can’t be claimed by anybody else. After you kill the mobs, you then get a ~5s grace period to claim the object.
I might also suggest to give more mobs net-like abilities to stop druids and players with stirrups from yoinking objects without fighting.

Those banners are ALL over the place.
So you can’t really assume that the person fighting a thing, is also going to go for the banner. If you stand around and wait, you basically lose.
What I do is use my interrupt on one, then I can usually grab the banner even if one other thing is beating on me. Otherwise, if someone else does I just move on.
I pulled the mob and moved right on top of the banner. He knew. I tried to click the banner when he came down but due to all the imps and wrathguard I wasn’t able to get it before he did. In the end, I went and found another banner and I survived the night. It’s just irritating.
It wouldn’t be a problem if people would just give others some common curtesy and respect.
This is why i just death coil (is it called mortal coil now?) the mob away, loot the item or click on whatever i need to and then kill it.

I just send pet in, click objective then kill but I’m one of those oddballs that uses their VW.
I’m one of those silly warlocks that use sacrifice even though it has done badly for many years now lol
