Boosted character, and offered the quest chain that starts in Boralus to get Prince Erazmin back to Mechagon. The final quest [Someone Who Can Help] cannot be completed because Prince Erazmin is MIA in Rustbolt, Mechagon. Nor are any of the other NPCs visible, aka, the innkeeper, the flightpath director, the scrap profession NPC, etc.
I assume they are AFK because this character did not do the initial quest chain to open up Mechagon, which starts from a quest given by Tinkmaster Overspark in Boralus. The problem is, he has no quest to offer to start the chain. So if unlocking Mechagon is required to be able to complete the [Someone Who Can Help] quest, then someone’s dropped the ball because there’s no way to progress forward. Instead of receiving the quest to restore Erazmin, I should have been only offered the unlock quest chain for Mechagon or, by accepting and completing the first quest in the chain to restore Erazmin it should have ticked the flags required to unlock Mechagon.
I also have other quests received from drops on Mechagon that cannot be turned in because there’s no NPC visible. Like with Prince Erazmin, the turn-in markers appear on the mini-map, but no one’s standing there. Like I said, dead in the water, because there’s no starting quest to unlock Mechagon being offered to this boosted character.
EDIT - FTR, abandoning and re-accepting the quest does not resolve it. Add-ons are disabled. When you go out to meet Prince Erazmin, there’s a circle shown on your mini-map. When you reach that circle, the text pops up that says you have met the objective of meeting Prince Erazmin, but he is not there to turn the quest in. The quest marker is there (yellow ?) but he is not, nor are any of the other important NPCs.
See below for remedy.
Ok, I fixed my issue of not having Tinkmaster Overspark offering that initial quest to unlock Mechagon by going to back to the Stormwind Embassy and picking up a quest from Gila Crosswires to go see Tinkmaster in Boralus. That unlocked the quest chain to unlock Mechagon, but it still leaves the question as to why boosted characters, or any character for that matter, are offered the quest to help restore Prince Erazmin, prior to unlocking Mechagon. Either that quest needs to be flagged to unlock Mechagon, or not offered to characters that haven’t unlocked Mechagon.
