Quest Helper is one of the things that destroyed the community feeling in WoW. LFR/Dungeon finder being the other factor in this as well.
Allowing a Quest helper addon destroys the need to seek help for finding the loctions of NPCs, quest destinations, as well as where to find the items for the quest.
I remember this one quest in Teldrassil I had to kill this queen something in Gnarlpine Hold. I couldn’t for the life of me find her. Looking for about 20 mins.
I randomly asked this warrior, he was kind enough to show me the way. Together we fought through the hordes of enemies, and reached our goal.
As we quested on different quests, I recieved a whisper from someone else, asking where she was. We helped this person out, even though it was 15 minutes out of our way.
With quest helpers, there would have been no need to talk to other people when doing this quest.
I would simply follow the arrow, and not get lost, not meet friends.
Quest Helpers are antithetical to classic WoW. It removes the need to communicate.
A person can look up quests on thotbot, but even today, many of the map locations are wrong, and will lead the player to the wrong location. Reading something on a webpage, and having an arrow are two very different things.

Not everyone is going to be using a quest helper addon and at the end of the day I feel like Classic WoW is about enabling people to play the game how they want to, not how any of us feel it ‘should’ be played.
Even with Quest addons, you’re still going to need to group for Elite quests or even just regular ol’ quests that are poorly balanced. Also don’t know how grouping with two randos who’s names you don’t remember for 15 minutes is community but that’s just me.

I almost guarantee that more than half of players will either have a leveling guide with locations tabbed, or on a second monitor/mobile device. At this point I don’t think a quest helper addon is even an issue anyone needs to worry about.

Did wowhead destroy the community? Did Alakazam destroy the community? Pretty sure Quest Helper orginally was designed to pull information off of these sites to help you find the mob or NPC without needing to Alt Tab out and check a resource site. Quest helper will be one of the first Addons I grab in classic, and it will not stop me from taking part in community chat, plenty of 5 man group quests coming back.

Pepperidge farm also remembers how you ninja looted the leaf, maybe pepperidge farms doesn’t forgive even 15 years later.

I noticed ppl just jump to this guy thread to destroy his opinion. Yet I don’t see ppl jumping to the pro addon one to bash their opinions.
I was never a hunter. Papperidge Farms needs to watch it’s mouth! These hands are rated E for everyone!

I am pro add on, its a choice that Blizz gives, most raid groups kinda require it but you can just lie.
Because the majority are pro addon. It doesn’t effect anyones game but your own if you use addons.
