To pick it back up and restart the quest:
Go back to Storm Peaks in Northrend and find Mimiron at The Inventor’s Library (Entrance way point: /way 37.7 45.2)

When you go back to the Temple of Storms to face Hati, do not treat it like a “pet tame” instead use your tankiest hunter pet and attack Hati. You must lower hati to 20% health before you can use the Thunderspark on him and keep your best hunter pet out the entire time.

Otherwise you are dead.
