Quest “Death comes from on High” for Retail WoW. Once the eye of Acherus lands the game disconnects, effectively stopping new DKs from leveling.

Can confirm this is happening to me as well. Fresh DK made today. I disabled all addons, did a clean boot with no addons installed, tweaked settings, etc. Disconnect every single time.

I just figured out two possible reasons. Either you can’t log out until that quest is done, or it’s a unlucky roll. Either way you need to make a new character.

Weird. Can confirm this. I made a new character, sped to the quest, and it worked. Made another new character, logged out, and then sped to the quest and DC’d again. Seems to be logging out is the culprit?

Confirmed, disconnect to the title screen on retail.
Deleting the character and starting it again without any log-out before the quest seems to be working for anyone stuck. Thank you to those above who suggested this solution to move forward.

This was happening to me, and I had sent a ton of gold to the character so deleting and remaking wasn’t an option. I was able to fix it by using the scourgestone hearth, and then reloading ui. I clicked on the eye and was able to complete the quest with no disconnects. Hope this helps.

Can confirm. This happened to me 5 times in a row. I used one of the hearthstones from my toy inventory and reloaded as you stated and it worked. Thanks.

I tired using the the hearthstone and a ui reload trick people have been using and it did not work for me

Still having the disconnect problem in June 2023.
This solution of Scourgestone + /reload worked perfectly with no character deletion necessary.
