I’m not sure if this is best posted here or in the ‘returning player’ section, so please let me know if it’s better posted there than here!
I returned for Shadowlands after a 3 year break, so I missed the last half of Legion and all of BFA. I’ve kinda been piecing everything together, but I’d really just like an addon that will query the server and tell me which quests I can currently pick up in any given zone. I’ve tried “everyquest” but it just gives me a huge list of every part of every quest and that’s super unhelpful. I just want to know where I can go to pick up any unfinished quests/chains, and complete them. (I tried everyquest because it said it would show !s on the map of where I could pick up quests, but I simply could not get it to work.)
Is there another option out there, preferably with a filter option for which ones give rep or story progression, etc?
I use Quest Completist addon. I don’t know if it has options to show the “!” markers on your map, but it has a list of all the quests you haven’t done in your current zone, including dailies. Hopefully it helps you a little bit better than the other one you tried.

Every single quest, or just the ones I can pick up? If I haven’t done quest X but I have to have done quests Y, Z and Potato first before I can pick it up, or if it’s part 4 of a chain…
If you miss a breadcrumb, but do the questline the breadcrumb leads to, and then the breadcrumb goes away because of it, it will still tell you “Hey, do the breadcrumb!” which is a slight bother for me.
Aside from that, yea, it will tell you every quest that is available in the zone, regardless of other required quests being completed. It query’s the server for your quest completion and tells you all the available quests.
It might not be for you, but definitely check it out. I don’t live by it or anything, I just know it has helped me out when farming old quests.
I generally use Wholly and Grail. (Both addons are needed. Grail is the database and Wholly is the front end.) It has settings to not show stuff you haven’t done the pre-requisites for. (It also has an option to warn you if you’re about to pick up a quest that has a breadcrumb available.)
It’s not perfect, as it occasionally misses stuff like that quest A is a prereq for quest B, but I’ve always found it very useful. Wholly adds a button to the world map that lets you quickly toggle showing available quests on the world map.
