Quest: Cities in Dust

Found some advice from others, about staying in Sylvanas’ blue circle. I did not quite stay in her circle all the time but stayed close enough. Was able to finally complete the quest. Thank you all for the advice.

Here’s what worked for me:

Ungroup
Unmount
Dismiss your pet
Stay in Sylvanas blue circle

I’ve done this quest more times than I can count and it never had that stupid “blue circle” problem Blizz needs to quit working on all of that stupid “new content” and fix this bug, NOW!

This is still bugged as of 20190202. I failed this quest about 25 times. You MUST dismiss all pets, leave any group you may be in, unmount, and stay in Sylvanas blue circle.

I was able to complete the quest with the advice here.

Dismount
Target Sylvanas and stay within her blue targeting circle at all times
When she stops, stand somewhat at the front of the circle and when she continues her route, be as fast as you can to start running again. Even being one second late caused this quest to fail for me.

I did it with these tips with a latency of ~198, so should be possible for most people! Think of it as a mini game, stay within the blue circle at all times

Just beat this quest on 2/7/19. I can confirm that it is still broken. Took almost 10 attempts. The only way I was able to beat it was like most said stay in the blue circle dismounted and move very minimally.

Still trying to do this, got as far as the road and dismounted, instant quest fail.

I dunno, how can such old content be STILL broken?

After dealing with the stupid and overpowered General Marstone (it took a group of us to kill him!), then this ridiculous bug. I just came back to WoW after about an 18 month absence and now I remember why I left. I wish I could get my money back…
Thanks to all who posted about staying within her circle. It didn’t use to be this way. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, Blizzard! And this quest was NOT broken. Clean.Up.Your.Mess…

Just struggled through this today but managed to finish it. The trick seems to be staying right on top of Sylvanas for the entire quest. This is tricky because she moves quickly on her mount and stops and starts midway. Unbelievable this has been a persistent bug for YEARS. And this is the culmination of the entire Forsaken starting zone which was an amazing story.

I have NEVER had this problem ( ive been playing for years) till now !! Attempted 73 times and every FREAKING time , within 5 feet of leaving , it fails !!! Doesnt matter if im in the blue cirle or not , it fails almost instantly !!

EDIT: Ok so I guess just try to get inside of her and keep up with her like that. Got there with no problems. It’s super weird that this happened but it works.

What’s extremely sad and pathetic is that this bug is still active. I can’t finish this quest because it just keeps failing. I was literally inches away from her, directly to her right, riding alongside her, and it just fails randomly. This is sad af tbh, I mean how tf is that still broken? Are you an indie developer with limit resources and employees or are you one of the largest gaming developers/publishers in the world? Seems to me half of the time that it’s one or the other whenever it suites you, blizz.

Yeah, about this quest. You pretty much have to be on top of Sylvanas, while escorting her to the Great Northern Wall of Gilneas. If she gets 5 yards or more away from you, the quest fails automatically.

This is the worst quest in the whole game. I did all the suggested things and still failed during the fight with Crowley for no apparent reason. I just abandoned it and will try to never think of it again.

Quest is still bugged. Tried it mounted, unmounted, in wolf form as a Shaman. Failed at random points each time. Tried this 10+ times.

I was told, that if Sylvanas is more than 5 yards away from you, the quest automatically fails. You basically have to on top of her, to complete the quest.

Alright. I’m tired of this quest line. Blizzard has created a completely broken quest line, hasn’t bothered to fix it after multiple reports, and I’m tired of them having things like this in the game for months. I can’t even enjoy my character and progress in the story, the primary part of the game I like because Blizzard leaves things like this unfixed. I have to focus so hard on following Sylvanas I can’t even read the dialogue. This is the second quest in the line bugged to the point it is not completable in any reasonable fashion.

I’m quitting this game when my subscription is up. They’ve known about this bugged quest line for months if not years. And they have done nothing about it. It’s amazing.

This quest is impossible. After a few tries I made it to the point where Sylvanas stops for the first dialog but that’s as far as I can get. I can’t finish the zone and this is really disappointing.
