I am trying find items for this quest, which is in Outland, yet two of the three items I am looking for have already proven to be a really big headache for me.
One of them being an adamantine frame, which I can only buy somewhere. I know which vendors sell it, and where they are located, but I’m wondering if there is a specific time when it would respawn in that vendor’s selection, or is there something I need to do in order to improve my chances of getting one?
The other thing is that I need to find 4 Heavy Knothide Leather, which can only be found in Heavy Fel Iron Chests, but I have no idea where to find them. Out of curiosity, can they be bought somewhere?
And no, I can’t create either one, since I have two completely different professions.
Have you looked in the Auction House? Both of those are crafted by professions, and sometimes crafters will put crafted items needed by quests on the AH.
The other possibility is asking on Trade chat, but it might be difficult getting your request out among the carry spammers.
Well, it’s something to consider, since I’m not sure if my current level in the game is having some sort of effect on the lower level quests.
For that quest, you are expected to get those items from other players if you didn’t have the professions needed yourself. The vendor and chests aren’t a reliable way to get them. (And were never meant to be.) So, the AH is your best bet.
Now, for the leather, if you have BfA, you can use a trial character to get them. As soon as you make the trial, hearth out of the intro scenario and all of your skills will unlock. Go to Outland and learn outland skinning and leatherworking. (You may have to mail over a small amount of gold to the trial to have enough to learn them.) You should have enough time before the trial runs out and the character locks to farm up enough leather to get Outland leatherworking high enough for the heavy leather. (I did this a while back on a server where I didn’t have a leatherworker.)
Well, got the leather, now I need to wait for the frame to become available for sale, whether by vendor or auction. Right now, those are my only options.
You can also try collecting the mats to make it and see if anyone in trade chat will make it for you for a reasonable fee.
how do I access trade chat?
Trade chat is only available when you are in a capital city. Right click the tab for your chat window and pick settings. If you go to the channels panel, you can make sure that trade chat is set to show. (It will only be an option when in a city, but once it’s on, you’ll pop back into trade chat whenever you enter a city.)

Must have 10 char.
Well, I just got it done. Now I’m just trying to get everything between the original and MoP finished before I start Warlords of Draenor. From the quests to the pet battles.
