My guild is currently on the final boss Mythic Lady Jaina Proudmore in Battle for Daza’alor.
On Sunday night a guild on my server managed to get the kill. We investigated their Warcraft logs to improve our strategy and noticed they were skipping the entire intermission by remaining on the boat and simply waiting until the storm finishes.
Initially, we assumed this was an exploit and they would have their kill revoked, but nothing has happened. As the intermission is a tricky phase their method has greatly reduced the time taken to learn the fight.
My guild would like some clarity. Will using this strategy result in a ban? Or is this as they say a “Clever use of game mechanics”
Thank you.

I don’t see how loitering could be classified as an “exploit”, but maybe?

“We just waited for Jaina to calm down. It was the least we could do.”
You’re just being thoughtful by waiting.

An exploit would mean they did something to abuse the game.
I don’t think just standing outside an aoe really counts as exploiting. Cheesy, for sure.
But who knows. We know how smug Blizzard likes to be when it comes to minor bugs. Expect them all to get a 31 day ban for loitering and a lovely tweet from lore, only after they’ve been banned, of course.
I hope the people in this guild get banned for trying to get one over on the wowdev team. This guild and the people have 0 skill and just want a free CE. I SAY NO!!!

I’m trying to figure out how what you’re suggesting this other guild did would even be possible.
And if it is possible, I’m not sure how it would be viable since her first intermission cast (if not interrupted) is long enough that she would enrage pretty much as soon as it ended.
There’s also the wall to consider…

Definitely not an exploit but definitely not how the fight was “intended” to be done.

I think it falls under cheesing the mechanics clause. I mean a bug would imply something was broke…If it is a bug I am sure Blizz will look into it and determine whether people were exploiting it and act accordingly. I personally would report it as a bug and see what happens.
Then bans for everyone right?
I mean, if it’s not working how Activision intended.
That’s the line right?
Wow that’s impractical.
I agree. Definitely not an exploit or a bug, but also not the intended method of doing the fight.
Someone care to inform how this mythic is different to heroic on that section? Because on heroic it would be easier to just charge at her.
On mythic, Jaina spawns images that need to die before you can interrupt her to stop Howling Wind.
Staying on the boat like this allows you to skip the intermission phase entirely.
Than it is most certainly an exploit.
Are they big time streamers and content creators showing their entire audience how to exploit the game?
How is standing still why the fight progresses without interaction an exploit?
The raid group isn’t actively doing anything. They finished the previous phase and just sat on the boat and it skips the next phase. Clever use of game mechanics, especially if the game progresses automatically without them doing anything.
