Quel'Serrar Bug / GM Response Made Me Cancel Sub

Sadly last night, upon getting the blade heated up by Onyxia (successfully), Onyxia’s wing landed right where my sword was on the ground. It was very clearly visible during the fight that it had heated successfully. Unfortunately, it could not be clicked over the Onyxia loot icon, despite all angles (3rd +1st person), until it eventually disappeared.
Ok, things happen. I decide to submit a bug/ticket. Thinking, at worst, I’ll just do it again. Upon researching, I could not find any issues of this, so figured I would report it so that it could be looked at as an issue for Blizzard.
Get a GM response today. After saying “We see that you were having a really hard time trying to heat up the blade during your Onyxia run earlier.” (no, no that is not my problem). They reiterate they are “surprised that first person was not working for you.” (That is what I said yes, so they are saying this is not known to them). They tell me there is absolutely nothing they can do, and that it will not be investigated.
WHAT?!
I’m sorry, but I just reported an issue that Blizzard just told me they know nothing about, and that they are not going to even investigate it?
I would have found the response of “We are very sorry this happened to you, we are going to thoroughly investigate this issue, but sadly for now, you will have to repeat the process over” acceptable. Stuff happens. But, absolutely no investigation into an issue that takes this much time/effort/people, that they have no idea about, and essentially calling me a liar is more than I can handle from this company tonight. I pay a sub fee. I pay for a babysitter to help with my kids on raid nights so that I can participate in these fun evenings. And I get told they refuse to even look into the matter, and insinuate that I am a liar by reiterating that they are surprised and specifying how it should have worked.
I have been having SO much fun with my rl friends playing this game, spent a lot of time to get to this quest. And would have been fine doing it again. But this is too much for a game that I am supposed to be having fun playing.
Thanks Blizzard, thanks for making me cancel my subscription tonight, and redirecting how my close friends and I spend our time. That is the absolute “best” customer service response from anybody I have had in a looooonnnnnng time. I am pretty sad over this, and honestly can’t help but laugh a little bit also. Please, feel free to have a laugh at me also everyone, I’m trying to remain semi-light after this, but I can’t continue on a broken quest-line that they refuse to admit even happened, that is absolute madness.
I am so very thankful for my community of players on Bloodsail-Buccaneers for all the assistance so far playing this wonderful game. This is a truly sad night.

Edit I had another GM contact me after all of this who was really very sincere in their apology over this issue, but honestly, the damage is done tonight

Edit Again I had a third GM contact me just now. They restated that the process to complete the quest is very strict, and gave me a point by point explanataion, again, again, on how to do the quest… at no point have they acknowledged the actual problem that I have typed out multiple times to them, and do not seem to understand the basic explanation of “I am trying to inform you that I did that, and it did not work, in front of an entire raid of witnesses”. Thank you to GM #2 in chat still for being the one person that actually looked into what I did and apologized. GM #3 has taken it a step backwards again, and here I am, the liar yet again.

You know that Onyxia is skinnable right?

My understanding from other tanks is that the quest won’t complete if someone skins Onyxia before activating the sword. So, skinning would’ve not helped.

Leril, really sorry this happened to you! I will miss healing you in MC. Too bad Blizzard’s Customer Service could not have been a bit more sincere. We are, afterall, the customer playing this game, some us for over a decade or longer.

Sad that Blizzard treats us like poop. Classic isn’t perfect. Bugs abound. At least treat us with respect.

You have to use the sword on her body after.

Bliz, no changes includes not having terrible customer service.

I have noticed that the “hitbox” for lootable corpses seems way bigger than it used to be and takes click-priority away from anything else.

I always accidentally loot things now instead of meleeing the mob I wanted to.

While I agree that Blizzard’s service with Classic has been terrible I do not agree with canceling. I’ve been told that dev’s want GM’s to have a more hands off response to classic players. (Having suffered my own ticket service being an absolute failure in another simple issue just a week prior.) That being said we do still -pay- them for a sub. What exactly are we paying for when it comes to receiving absolutely no help when reporting issues? At the end of the day we have to remember the old Blizzard is dead, most of the staff that once cared is gone and people wonder why WoW’s community had become so toxic. It’s issues like this that we know that could be easily solved being swept under the rug that cause it.

(The body was not skinned, it was an issue with picking up the blade after it had been heated and was not able to click it. For those of you thinking it was that.)

It’s a shame that ActiBlizzard has grown so lazy in solving issues for its players but at the end of the day they want money and treating those that have spent years with subs to their games like this is truly disgusting and is just a drop in the bucket as to why their stock is always dropping.

Their customer service is atrocious now. Half of the GMs are like “huh wut you mean” when you clearly describe a issue. Most of the other half lazily copy / paste a canned reply then close the ticket on you. A small percent are actually knowledgeable and care about their job, the problem would be the managers of the GMs who turn a blind eye to the cruddy service they provide.

Actually, their horrid customer service, canned responses, misreading/not reading tickets, pseudo empathetic and irrelevant responses are probably the only thing they’ve absolutely never changed within the life of this game. I quit for over 10 years, come back to wow classic and literally nothing is different with them. At all. Dead serious. Talking to them is a waste of keyboard durability.

I was once told in response to a ticket regarding a bugged quest in the Wrath expansion, that “We are on another expansion now and that is old content.”

Quest happened to be vital in the forsaken quest line there, so I escalated my ticket. Another GM told me they couldn’t fix a broken quest. I said, “fine, just progress my character past the broken quest please.” Done and dusted.

But. . . that the first response I got was basically “we don’t give an eff about old content” was off-putting and signals a very bad attitude.

I am unsurprised that Classic GMs (at least at the first response level) are even more useless. My suggestion is to keep escalating your ticket until you get at least an acceptable response.

Blizzard support is DOGSH!T in Classic. It’s honestly such a shame to see a game where the support was historically excellent fall apart because of corporate greed (they fired 600 customer service reps in Feb).

Had a similar issue with her head landing on the heated blade and hence being unable to loot it. Submitted a ticket and was told that I need to drop the quest and do it again. Several rounds of discussion (over several days) ensued where I was give no helpful advise on how to prevent this happening again, rather it boiled down to “cross your fingers she doesn’t fall badly again”. I asked for clarification as it appeared they GMs were telling me I need to get a new copy of Foror’s and was told yes I needed redo the quest and there was nothing they could do.
I explained the effort that would require and have been told again there is nothing they can do. Unfortunately this isn’t feasible for me.

Annoyingly so.

the automated BS copy and paste responses are the most degrading thing i have ever read … I feel INSULTED by them… and belittled.

for a 45 BILLLION dollar company the customer service and actual responses and willingness to help by GM’s is disgusting.

You pay someone to watch your kids so you can play video games?

Huh…

You say that like it’s a bad thing. Having a babysitter while you’re focused on your hobby is pretty responsible.

couldn’t agree more it should preference alive mobs over dead corpses to loot. drives me bloody insane when tanking.

We have created 3 of these swords. The key is to have every member of the raid knowing a blade is being heated - have the tank move ony breath to the sword - heat it - move away from it again. Its a little niggly to move a huge dragon without cleaving/breathing half the raid.

Our first one took us 2 attempts (we wiped in excitement because someone got knocked into the whelps)

This has always been the case and is the main cause of looting in combat.

Honestly,

The same thing happened to me. I panicked. But I zoomed in and got the sword lol.

You spent a lot of time on this quest? did you buy a book off the AH and do Onyxia?

  1. I have no sympathy for you
  2. Chill out and stop reading into implied messages that don’t exist
  3. A GM will not be your babysitter for your questing too
  4. Retail is a better hand-holding experience
