Queen Azshara in Shadowlands?

Queen Azshara has two important quotes:

“Treacherous Banshee! Do you think I am blind to the darkness you seek to unleash?” After Sylvanas bargained with her.

Also:“I tire of intermediaries and heralds. The true throne of power beckons, and I intend to claim it.” After she’s released from Ny’alotha.

I might be wrong, but she made it sound like Sylvanas’s intentions involved something big, (and she is aware of what it is) and that could be one of the things she is interested about… Maybe the whole situation in Shadowlands could be revealing a new seat of power? Either that or some other lore that we don’t fully know about…? Is the Pantheon of Death related to the Original Pantheon we know? Whatever is going on, Azshara would only be interested if that meant she would get power over it (or rule over it completely)

The running theory right now is that Azshara is after the Void Lords.

But, as for a bit of background. Take this with a grain of salt as we do not know everything about the Shadowlands yet, but we do know a substantial amount. So, without further ado, let’s start from the basics.

The Pantheon of Death consists of six “Eternal Ones,” this includes:

  • The Jailer of the Maw
  • The Archon, Kyrestia the Firstborne of Bastion
  • The Primus of Maldraxxus
  • The Winter Queen of Ardenweald
  • The Arbiter of Oribos
  • Sire Denathrius, the ruler of Revendreth

Here is a picture of the 6 Eternal ones.

Note that the Maldraxxi-looking guy with the helmet and axe is not the Primus, but his current replacement, as the Primus has gone missing.

These 6 Eternal Ones, again, compose the Pantheon of Death. Each of them created the plane of the Shadowlands they rule over today. Except for the Jailer and the Arbiter. You mentioned how Queen Azshara speaks of the “darkness” Sylvanas seeks to unleash. That is the Jailer. Sylvanas and the Jailer struck a deal back in Edge of Night, a story in which Sylvanas jumped off of Icecrown after Arthas’ death, as her only goal in her undeath had been accomplished.

We don’t know the specifics of the deal, but we know one thing is for certain, and it’s that Sylvanas and the Jailer seek to consume the World Soul of Azeroth by pulling the entire planet into the all-consuming Maw.

But this is where stuff gets really interesting. In the Shadowlands, you will find various “Waystones” which serve as our graveyards in this expansion. But we end up finding a particular one in the Maw that’s slightly different.

During the initial questing in Shadowlands, we discover that this waystone reacts to the Champions of Azeroth. Which is interesting, because, the Titans have absolutely no knowledge of Azeroth. This is when the big bit of speculation comes in, and the potential lore bomb. Ion mentioned in an interview with Bellulargaming that the Titans have creators, and through our questing in the Shadowlands, we also discover that the Shadowlands has creators as well.

They are called the First Ones. They are the creators of Oribos, the Arbiter, and supposedly the Shadowlands as well.

So, potentially, this could mean that yes. We have a new seat of power in the Shadowlands. These First Ones, could potentially be the creators of not only the Shadowlands, but the Titans and all of the current cosmology of WoW. We still have an entire expansion’s worth of story to get to, and this is obviously going to be a developing plotline, so all we can do is wait and see what happens.

Since the shadowlands have many afterlives that are not shown, it’s possible queen azshara seeks to take dominion over one of those other zones. Or (given her origin in night elf culture, which is connected to many demigods and is one of the largest centers of druidism) she could have a close connection with the Winter Queen and the Night Fae. She may seek to take the Winter Queen’s position and use that position to have sway over the affairs of the Shadowlands.

But that brings up the question of whether Shadowlands Pantheon members can lose their position, be replaced, and where they came from to begin with. There’s still a lot of info we don’t know yet

"Only I can save you from what is too come." - N’zoth.

The void refers to “Death” as the enemy of all.

Thats really interesting…hope they explore that lore well. And for Azshara, some said she might ally herself with the Jailer to get closer to the new seat of power…but im not sure about that one. As long as she doesnt die like some stupid maw-sided underling im happy

Yeah, I don’t think you’ll see Azshara again any time soon. She will never let herself be subservient to anyone or anything like the Jailer or the Maw.

Thank goodness too. BFA really wasted Nazjatar’s potential as what could’ve been an entire expansion. At least our favorite Naga Queen is still slithering around somewhere.

And the void hates Sylvanas if you remember the interaction between her and Alleria.

10 bucks says Elune is connected to the void and Azshara is going to try to kill her to become a Goddess.

Sylvanas was to crazy f up evil, even for Azshara.

Yes, exacly. It had so much potential…im fine with her being away for a long time if that means shes gonna return and do something big one day… even if she ends up dying, if its badass, im fine with that. Wasting her and Nzoth as BFA patches was painfull tho

I do remember it in “Three Sisters”. I would go more with fears than hates though.

Probably has a reason.

N’zoth seemed to know Shadowlands was on its way. "The veil wanes, his crown will open the way."

I’m on the like GCD so

I can see Sylvanas making it through SL alive to battle the Void Lords when they finally make their appearance.

I’m 100% Azshara will never ally herself with anyone again. She isn’t stupid. She discovered what Sargeras wanted to do to Azeroth and she knew the old gods wanted to corrupt the planet. And honestly I doubt we will ever fight her again, she will most likely become a anti villain or be redeemed and ally with us against the void lords. Blizzard didn’t save her for later only to kill her.

I thought the pantheon of death was much larger than just the 6? After all the Winter Queen has a sister who is probably somewhere in the Shadowlands. We’ve only been given access to a small portion of the Shadowlands. Remember this realm is the “afterlife” for the entire universe. So I’m sure there are unseen areas we are yet privy too.

I mean… hes not wrong. In the end death claims us all. Also look at the powers we got from N’zoth.

As if Danuser can write anything beyond “Sylvanas best waifu”

Not entirely sure why Blizzard has made some sort of cult out of Azshara she is rather boring with her entire storyline being summed up to size queen and wanting the d.
