Do you guys think Blizzard will ever buy into space on a quantum computer to host the game servers? I can imagine they’d have no issue with server load again given how capable the technology is.
You could have Stormwind full of 100s of players without issue. Huge WPvP raids attacking cities on WarMode; it’d be epic. I feel like if they’re the first MMO to utilize the technology they could have an advantage over other MMOs in that their game could have far more players in one area without issue compared to the server capabilities of other online games.
While I like your optimism… that’s not how quantum computers work.
More likely they would use quantum computing to absolutely ROFLSTOMP you in a BG using bots.
Quantum computing is about attacking all angles of something to find the highest probability of something. They can’t actually do traditional computing.
So what you’re saying is that we might actually get real RNG instead of the fake RNG we get now… Or maybe it would be able to actually figure out Blizz’s RNG algorithm so we can predict what we’ll get based on their multitudes of layers of RNG
No it’s not RNG, it’s more things like path optimization. So think of bots that actually are scary good at AI. Quantum computing would supplement the traditional AI techniques (tensors etc.) to optimize which calculations to do. They don’t get rid of actually doing them though.
So is the marketing department… Just ask IBM what ‘Watson’ is. They have no idea anymore. Because it means nothing. There are also many different types of AI too. So it’s not as simple as saying AI.
Is it machine learning (what most people actually think is AI), or is it natural language processing (Siri) etc.
