Thoughts on Dragonriding:
Dragon Riding feels fantastic in my opinion however i think that alot of the discontent alot of players feel is with the starting vigor recharge and value available. Additionally there are times when even with max 6 vigor you get stuck in a location and simply have to wait for it to fill back up or hearth/take a FP away from that location.
Suggested solution:
Give Flight Masters an option to either instantly refill vigor or give an additional vigor recharge when grounded buff for 30 minutes.
Or, people can just git gud.
Theres nothing wrong with not being the best at something brand new. Its also not bad to have something to work towards to improve with the glyphs. It isnt time gated or grindy. It actually feels like a video game.
The FP whistle that we use to have where it would teleport you to the nearest FP would probably be a good addition
It literally takes 15 mins to fly around and get upgrade tokens, which lets you upgrade your mount so vigor is significantly less of an issue. And it’s kinda fun to get the tokens.
No. Its like finding cheese. It isn’t fun
The Skyward Observatory quest was buggy when I finally completed it last night. And completing this quest is vital to move forward with dragonriding abilities.
When I found Lithragosa and the talent tree, and picked up more quests, and picked up my first glyphs, I started to see the pathway to “git gud.” I’m hopefully optimistic that dragonriding is going to be really fun and functional.
But when I was trying to complete the buggy gateway quest, I was real close to saying EFF THIS
The only thing I hate is that updrafts aren’t more readily available. I had to get out of The Emerald Garden a few times and EVERY TIME I had to use all 4 Vigor just to make it out of the mire, then wait another 2 minutes for all my Vigor to recover.
That is a serious mark in my book…if you’re going to require us to use this mechanic, the world needs to be built around the expected limitations as we level it up.
The dragon flight feels like one of the best done things in the game for a very long time. The controls are fickle. You need to use gravity to your advantage taking the dives and turning it into momentum for climbs. Acceleration is key. You will not accelerate trying to fly a drake like you fly a plane. I see what people are doing sometimes when passing them by. Stop pressing buttons looking for the gas pedal and start maneuvering for speed.
Boring…not fun.
Your drake should have a sign on it that says “I’m not your SUV.”
Doing a nosedive to gain altitude was counterintuitive for me. The NPCs give tips in their dialogue but it is taking some time for me to integrate into my flying style.
It is a learning curve and on the one hand it’s not a point-click faceroll, but it’s also not rocket science and the skill can be acquired.
Before there were jet engines the common knowledge of flight was acceleration using the body of the plane. The fighters for example would descend rapidly from high altitudes to help maneuvering in combat. It works like this in DF too. You can basically start a descent from Alexstraza in the end zone and climb right back up to the top by simply generating vigor mid flight. This is a big tower mind. If you haven’t been there yet. I even talked to the golem from the cinematic!
Before I logged out today I picked up all the furthest away flight points including the primalist raid fp. The only time I landed was to pick up the fp. I don’t have max DF talents.
This will help those with disabilities for sure.
