Why was the old CD good enough for 15 years but isn’t anymore? I’m confused.

They got rid of the old mechanic where potion cooldowns dont start until out of combat. Thats why.

But most fights are over much sooner than that. I’m trying to do the Maw and I am literally hiding and waiting for health pot CDs to reset. I’ve been working on one quest on and off all morning. I’m logging off, logging on, etc.
I never said they thought it through. They didnt. Just like most of this expac. Their goal was to get rid of prepotting boss fights and they did it.
Who needs health pots in boss fights unless there’s a screw up? One per fight is plenty. You need health pots for grinding trash in torghast and maw.
What are you doing in the Maw that requires multiple health pots?

Trying to finish a perdition hold quest with assassins on. I’m very close (within 2 quests) to next rep level and carrying lots of Stygia.

Yes, The stygia will soon be spent but I don’t want to lose it all by dying in perdition hold. I will spend 3 days doing the quest if that’s what it takes.
If you’re too weak to handle a few mobs alone in Perdition Hold have you considered going into it with a group, like what was intended? Before I got geared enough I regularly invited everyone I came across inside.
My friends hate the maw and aren’t really doing it at all. I can do it , and I’ll mind dying a lot less once I spend this stygia, which should be this week.
Are you trying to tell me you’re the only person in the Maw when you go?
So you’re trying to solo content intended for a group, while at Eye of the Jailer tier 3, and your complaint is about potion cooldowns? Okay then…

Don’t you have to be in Oribos to group up for Maw stuff? Or is that only if you’re using the LFG tool?
Well it sounds absurd when you put it that way, but yes. I could do it if the potions reset faster. In fact, I AM doing it, just very, very slowly. Threat resets in 10 minutes - fingers crossed!

The past 2 weeks I’ve done the save souls quest completely while under Jailer 5. If it wasn’t for the near instant respawns on those soul prisons, I’d definitely die before I completed them.

I bow to your skill. Level 3 is about as high as I can go on it comfortably.
You can invite other people already in the Maw without going to Oribos to be moved to the same shard.
