maybe its just my gear or what but… ive been finding hard casting pyroblast is a dps loss. pyroclasm proc up, hard cast pyro… lose dps?
Personally, I think hardcasting Pyroblast during combat should always be a DPS loss. I hate Pyroclasm and Sun King’s Blessing for forcing it on us.
If you hardcast pyro it should hit like a truck. You don’t even need to balance for pvp cause it would never happen. Instant cast pyros hitting for ice lance equivalent damage is hilarious looking and goofy. They just rolled too much overall damage into hot streak procs and tuned it back by lowering damage. I played fire in vanilla and fire now is like a mario 64 face stretched almost unrecognizably away from the source material. You shoot a fireball for 140k that looks like a warm baseball and the follow it up with a capped out 60k pyro that looks like a mini hateful sun. Pyroblast used to be a crushing finisher. I get it… balance. But pyro aint special anymore.
(Please pardon a few currently-incorrect names as I would have imagined they have been altered since their inception and I don’t particularly care about the current names if they have, indeed, been re-named.)
As inefficient for overall dps as it is?
I still play Fire Mage to what I was used to for years and years, being a comfortable rhythm.
I stack crit and haste where I can. I cast Fireball (unless the situation demands I be mobile, in which case I cast Scorch) until I have Heating Up* and then use Fire Blast or Phoenix Flames to proc an instant-cast Pyroblast!* and then try to manipulate myself into as many Pyroblast!* procs as I can until I am forced to hard-casting again until I can repeat the cycle.
Thankfully, I do not do high-end content so it is not burdening any groups but I am not overly concerned with hard-casting Pyroblast unless I want to pull a mob in open-world content or something.
I would like Pyroblast, as a baseline, to do more damage of course. I just don’t really worry about it, is all.
Such a stupid unfun ability
