Standard CC doesn’t stop them from getting off meteor. What are some strats you guys use?
I use the pillar and then proceed to eat my chicken quesadilla from Taco Bell while I’m lining it.
Taco Bell prompts a different sort of Meteor.
Shimmer says hi from behind the pillar
What comp are you facing? What comp are you playing as?
Line til 80% damp then step out and clap someone.
Good teams never let a greater pyro go off. Stuns,CC, Interrupts, LOS, SMokebomb, like anything to stop Greater pyro is viable
hur dur derp.
Good teams never let pyro go off? More like bad mages can never get pyro off.
Getting pyro off isn’t that hard ffs.
Lol you’ve never played against Lock,Shaman,DK where gpy is not even worth using @Addr
Also, if you think bad mages are the reason certain Gpy’s don’t go off you are largely mistaken and should never talk about mages again
lolololol. I love when people start something off with ‘lol’ as if it some how gives them more credibility.
Nah man. doesn’t matter what you’re playing against as the setup should be the same regardless. If you’re playing fire and you’re not playing with a team that can cross CC with you, then you’re doing it wrong. Locking down 2-3 targets isn’t difficult. Rogues locks down one with stun while you have one sheeped. You don’t even have to cc all 3 targets either.
If you’re casting greaters without having targets locked down, then maybe revisit your play style. Watching capable teams get off two greaters in succession is pretty normal.
I’ll keep talking if you keep posting silly stuff.
Btw, Iv beaten Xar in arena this season where he played fire and in a 5min game he got ZERO gpy’s off. I constantly watch the best mages on Twitch in Ziqo, Venruki, and Xar and they also have a hard time getting gpys of in certain match-ups… You have no idea what you are talking about @addr …. LOL
On a side note, I played against Venruki about a month ago on my ret in a 3 game series. 1st game he was playing Gpy, but never got 1 off. 2nd game he was using the Firestarter build since gpy is so hard to cast sometimes, then 3rd game he stayed Firestarter. My team won all 3 games.
No idea what i’m talking about. Hokay. I literally play the same game as you. If mages weren’t get greaters off, they wouldn’t be playing fire. Are you seriously trying to argue with me on that concept? Holy hell people say some dumb stuff here but this is taking the cake. I love how you just toss in there ‘certain matchups.’ already back peddling on the dumb stuff you just said?
Played against Venruki? Gz. Want a cookie? Congrats on the 2k in 2s. You certainly earned it.
@addr
Just a thought, and by no means will I ever consider myself a R1 mage, but if R1 mages cant always cast Greater Pyro, then I doubt anything you are saying is legitimate. Maybe you are just stuck below 1800 where it is easier to cast.
Anyhow, to stick to the original forum post, Just make sure you are watching the mage to stop him from casting, just like everyone should be watching Nelf healers from getting a free drink off.
Why am I not surprised someone named Floridax thinks gpy can always be stopped and believes he beats the best mages in the world and forces them to stop playing gpy. This is actually hilarious.
Even if you actually stopped every single one that in itself is reason for taking it so kicks/stops are out of the way for sheep, your healer, or a second caster dps.
@Floridax
Are you from florida? If so, I guess i should be going easy on ya.
Just a thought, read what you first typed. Here, let me grab it for you.
It all just boils down to that. You could have just corrected that silly comment, but instead you doubled down. Then you start to back peddle.
Oh… so now it’s just one comp we are talking about? more back peddles?
Ah… yes yes… go on. It’s like… you’re almost agreeing with me. It’s like you want to be a normal, decent upstanding person… but that caveman brain just isn’t allowing it. But you continue to double down.
Ahhh yes… finally. When all else fails, say something so dumb that you remove any doubt of the status of that lump of meat between your ears.
You all think you are elite… try a backpeddling only arena. Thats skill.
The nastiest comp we seem to get are an Outlaw Rogue and a Pyro Mage. We usually play as a Shadow Priest and Ret Paladin (at least for the skirmishes not rated lol).
How the enemy strat goes is that they stun me or my partner just long enough for the mage to manage to get off meteor that nukes me hard. I do have 3 CCs, a 6 sec stun, the psychic scream, and a silence I usually macro to the mage. But we can’t get the jump because they go in stealth’d.
We don’t have much trouble in other 2v2s because we manage CC on an off target while we focus one down but the stealth stuns combined with the shield the mage carries makes it a tall order.
Of course we try to do that but even if we do get the opportunity we only have so much CC and the Mage only needs to get that spell off once.
Mage rouge 2’s is probably the best x2 dps. I would suggests lining as best you can and play around rouge having 3 solid openers on you.
Stop the re-stealth’s, and kill rouge?
Why are you hating on Florida?
It’s easier for my team (Rogue/ret) but one piece of advice I would give is that on most maps you can dictate where the mage comes out of stealth by using the pillars to block off certain angles.
As rogue/ret we’re able to stop the opening greater pyro relatively consistently like this. Then we kill rogue.
