Hello,
Im thinking about playing Warlock in classic, however I’m probably not going to be super geared. I probably will have the PvP Blue set from Rank 10 with the rep epics and some dungeon gear. Is warlock worthwhile for pvp without great gear? Alternative classes for me are Hunter ( Alot of XP on as well ) and Mage ( Some XP but not great at it ). What u guys think.
It will probably be fine for awhile, but any class in blues will get facerolled by people in Naxx gear eventually. Phase 6 is a long way off though I assume.
I think I’ve read blue PvP gear is about on par with MC gear.

No one will be super geared.
Blue pvp set is better than most players will have. Ever.
Many people will be in “so-so gear”, loads of them.
Do your Rank 10, and hop in some PUGs in MC/Ony/ZG and AQ20 as time permits for the offset/jewelry pieces that are better.
The biggest problem with warlock pvp imo is soulshards. Your pet is constantly dying, soulfire, healthstones, soulstones and constant shadowburn eat shards like candy. You obviously don’t want to drain soul in an important fight and you’re extremely limited in world pvp (as they can only be farmed from mobs 51-60ish.
I used to cram them in my bank while I queued for battlegrounds and wondered how famous warlocks like drakedog could afford to spam stuff constantly.

If you want a caster for strictly PVP, you’d be much better off going mage. They are far more flexible in BGs than warlocks. Another factor is faction. Warlocks are nicer as alliance, mages are nicer as horde.
Shadow priest would be another caster to choose, in their case specifically because they aren’t very gear reliant.
That being said, so long as you know your role would be a bit different, you CAN still play a lock in lower gear levels, you just play more for control and setting up your allies to land kills than really putting the beating on yourself.
sm/ruin lock good for pvp and pve even without bis
You don’t need gear xaldren, you have the will of the warrior

HI MOBILE! Dude im agonizing over this class choice thing. I over think this stuff lol. I think im narrowing it between Hunter and Warlock though. Mage is super convenient and OP but I think being good might still be >> than being OP even in classic. hmmm
Yea that is one thing that kinda sucked for PvP back in vanilla. You hit the PvP progression blocker pretty quickly. I remember getting the blue set on both characters pretty early on and then never really progressing past that point.
I played more than enough games haha, my druid had exalted with all three PvP factions
depends on when and how long you want to play for. the more time passes, the more you will struggle in blues
You mention dungeon gear. An alternative path would be casually earning the dungeon set in the early phases, while also saving gold up. Then when the AQ phase rolls around. You could upgrade to the mixed purple dungeon set.
Google Dungeon Set 1 and 2.
