PvP Vendors & Spec-Specific Gear

Well, it happened. After playing WoW since BC and trying out new Specs this expansion, for the first time I bought the wrong piece of PvP gear and upgraded/enchanted/equipped it before realizing this.

How did this happen you may ask? Well, until now, I’ve always played characters whose Primary Stat was the same across the board (for the Specs I played). Warlock, Priest, Druid (only ever did Resto or Balance), Mage, Warrior and others all have no real issue with PvP Vendors.

However, trying out Enhancement this season, I got the 2500 Conquest Tokens on an alt and inadvertently bought Int weapons instead of Agi pieces. I know this will not/can not be refunded/fixed by Game Masters, but it does bring up an “easy” fix in my opinion.

Why is it that PvP Vendors have the player’s Class as the default filtering for gear instead of your current Spec? I know you can manually choose, in my case, Enhancement from the drop down options as Shaman is normally selected.

It seems to me, as I know I am FAR from the only person to have made this quite stupid mistake, that there are two easy changes to prevent other WoW players from falling into this situation.

  1. Make the Spec of the player the default filtering for PvP Vendors when they interact.
  2. If a player tries to buy a piece that does NOT have the correct Primary Stat for their current Spec, have a popup warning appear, like the Great Vault.

I will again admit this is MY FAULT and I own that, but having played this game for well over a decade it is understandable that if I can make this error then other and newer players will as well.

At any rate, I hope these suggestions resonate with some of you out there, as I know many others have be victim of this situation as well and would hope Blizz does what it can to “protect us from ourselves” as it were.
